remixthedrabble, round 5

Hey, you know remixthedrabble, that challenge I mention every few months or so? Well, the founder trascendenza stepped down recently and I'm now helping out as a co-mod, which means I'm going to be pimping the thing harder than ever. Yay, remixes! Yay, drabbles! (Yay, other short ficlets!)

We are just getting started with a new round which, like the previous one, will be more of a mini-remix festival than an exchange. That is, there are two separate sign-up posts. If you've written at least 5 fics of 100 words or more in a single fandom, you can sign up as a remixee to give other writers permission to remix your work.

If you don't have enough qualifying fics or if you just don't feel like letting other people play around with your fic, you can sign up as a remixer, and offer to write anywhere from 1 to 5 remixes. The final product could be an exact drabble in 100 words, could be a drouble, tribble, piece of poetry, or any other ficlet of up to 500 words (or, if you really can't contain yourself, up to 1000, because we're softies). So, you know, even if you are signing up to write and that seems intimidating (because maybe like me you haven't written anything in a little while), just think, you only have to do 100 words, and you will have some kickass prompts in the form of someone else's fics!

Of course, in my opinion signing up for both is the most fun, but do whatever works for you! You guys, seriously, this challenge is so much fun, and I would really love to have more hobbit people participating again as we did for the first round. It's also open to rpf so if any of you Lotrips folks (or bandom or J2 or whatever!) would like to join in we would love to have you too. If you're multifandom and flexible that helps us with the matching, but if you just write LotR (or Faculty!) that's totally great too.

Signups are open until October 18th. Assignments will go out on October 20th and fics are due back by November 15th. remixthedrabble! Whoo!

I remember when I first started talking up this comm you announced that you were too much of a drabble elitist to participate in a comm that would be so loose with that word as to allow remixes that were not exactly 100 words. :D Ever since then I have tried to be extra conscientious but it's tough because, you know, name of the comm. (Of course, if you felt like it you could sign up as a remixer but not as a remixee. And then you would only write actual drabbles. Yay, nonreciprocity!)

And that is very intriguing that I could sign up without allowing some poor mortal to remix me.

Yeah, we are actually having more people sign up as remixees than as remixers, which I guess makes sense since a lot of people like the idea but might not have time to write this month or whatever. Hopefully it'll still work out okay because most remixers are signing up to write multiple remixes. The part that makes it tricky is matching in 20 different fandoms, but I think the other mod is planning to take care of that so I can just relax and squee and such.

Well, I threw half my hat into the ring. I'm about to embark on a major fic project, so I don't think I can sign up to write, but someone might enjoy playing with my wacky LOTRPS of yore.
