Dear Remixer,

I am a big fan of remixes, as you can probably tell from looking at my fic index. This is my third time participating in Remix Redux and I've also done [livejournal.com profile] fandom_mashup, helped run the hobbit-centric remix [livejournal.com profile] a_conspiracy, and participated is six out of seven rounds of [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble, where I'm in the middle of modding the current round. Last weekend I went through and added a remixed tag to my journal and links to the remixes of my fics. The tag's a little confusing though because a lot of the posts contain multiple ficlets. Anyway, as far as I understand things it's fine to remix fics that have already been remixed. A lot of the remixes of my fics are only drabbles anyway, so there should still be a lot of room for you to make your own story.

Speaking of which, hey, go crazy and have fun! Please do not worry about upsetting me by writing something really different from what you're remixing. Though I recognize that the rules say you can't change the pairing, I'm a big fan of radically shifting the focus, bringing out things that are hinted at but not made explicit in the original. In the past I've turned a gen fic into femslash and turned a Harry/Ron/Hermione into Remus/Tonks with a side of Remus/Sirius. I was thrilled when one of my friends remixed one of my Merry/Pippin stories into a Merry/Pippin/Estella. I'd be totally up for you doing that kind of pairing shift, or making one or more of the characters trans, or turning a happy story into a dark one or vice versa, or adding a kink or incest, or making my story just a small part of yours. As long as it doesn't turn into character bashing and there's some recognizable connection there, it's all good.

Please don't do any of the unfinished fics though, even if they look abandoned.

There are some fandoms where I only qualified because of the new rules and I feel a little uneasy about that. In Firefly and Doctor Who and Lost I've written multiple drabbles mainly to make things easier at [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble, but I worry about someone trying to write 1000 based on what I've got there. In Merlin too I know that the pickings are pretty slim. :/ On the other hand, I think there's a pretty good variety of characters and pairings in my qualifying fandoms, so in that way at least it should be easy for you to find something you're interested in (unless you're a classic Who person, in which case I'm really sorry). And of course you're welcome to take on anything from the crossovers or the fandoms where I haven't written enough to qualify.

The fandom I've written the most in is LotR, where most of my stories feature Frodo, Merry, and/or Pippin. If you're not into hobbits you could try the Faramir/Éowyn ficlet "There's Another Dance" or one of the hobbit stories taking place outside the Shire, where you might be able to shift the focus to Big Folk: "If I Keep You Beside Me", "Lost in Translation", "Leaving", "Thirst", or "The Silent Street".

That's all I can think of to say. If there's something else you're wondering about me, [livejournal.com profile] claudia603 knows me pretty well and can probably help you. Good luck! I hope you have a wonderful time with the challenge.
