Seriously, only a year ago? I was sure all the cool people had been reading her for decades, and I must have been living in some kind of bubble because I'd never heard of her until I started seeing her name mentioned by LOTR slash fans.
Sorry, I was fiddling with that comment and the version you replied to got erased. Anyway, I meant to say Fida of mordelhin's fabulous A Second Darkness. First time I seriously perved on a non-con.
Yes, baranduin enticed me over to The Persian Boy a few months ago, and then into maryrenaultfics and thus into The Charioteer (we are now having a book discussion, one chapter per week).
Read The Charioteer and join us! It's fun.
I was amazed that I'd held off reading Renault for so long - I'd certainly been hearing about her for years.
The Charioteer is next, I picked up a copy on Sunday and I'm taking it with me on my trip. I hadn't been hearing about her for years, only the last few months since I started reading slash. And I was so late coming to slash too. *shakes head*
Fida? Now I'm really confused. I had totally forgotten that his name wasn't Frodo...but it's been a long time since I read that story! :-) D'oh! non-con is a supersekrit kink of mine sometimes...nevermind :-D
Hmm, maybe it's time you went back and read it again. It was really pretty disturbing to me when I first read it and realized how much I was enjoying it. I mean, I think this was actually a very old kink of mine but so supersekrit that I'd never even admitted it to myself, so, yeah.
dreamer46 has done a whole series of stories reconciling "The Persian Boy" with what we see in Stone's 'Alexander' movie. She writes beautifully and her stories and characters are so precious. Her Bagoas is piercingly young and she has created two OCs to show off Bagoas that you will fall in love with, too. And you have joined the Renault community, too? Yes, because there was a whole series of stories about Bagoas and Ormoredon sp??? housed there. They were just beautiful and hot and wrenching! Also join bagoastheeunuch community we need some more people with enthusiasm.
Hey there, sorry to take so long answering this. Thank you very much for the recs. I did read most of Oromedon's Lessons before I left and it was just fabulous. I'm really looking forward to finishing that and reading some other Renault fic when I get back. I also need to watch "Alexander" and join those communities and friend those authors. All as soon as I get home and can surf with some privacy because, goodness. *hugs you back*
oh this is wonderful. So many communities to check out. So far I've just joined the atg community here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/atgstories/) but they dont much on bagoas there :(
Isn't this a fun entry? It was f-locked at the time because I was embarrassed to be perving so much, but it ended up as a nice little rec list, so I came back and made it public after talking to you on Thursday.
By the way, maryrenaultfics just started reading and discussing another book, The Last of the Wine, so it could be a really good time to join in.
