I definitely consider Gwaine/Merlin a rarepair. It's not like there are tons of fanworks being posted every day (or every week, or every month!). The only pairing that can consistently boast of having new things to look forward to every day is Arthur/Merlin with Arthur/Gwen an increasingly closer second. Maybe Gwaine/Merlin is third but it's still nothing like the other two.
