I agree, I think that's probably the main reason most people don't do it and the reason why I held off on doing it for quite a while after I heard about the idea. Still, the fact that authors feel presumptuous about making statements doesn't make things any easier for podficcers who don't know whether they'll be allowed to record, you know what I mean? I'd like to move away from a culture of blanket permission being for BNFs and toward one where everybody who wrote fic was expected to have some kind of statement, whether it's blanket permission or no secondary works allowed or anything in between. :)
