You don't overplay things, there wasn't even really any sex noises in this one for you to work with. I can only conclude that it's something intrinsic to your voice. And of course, the sexy isn't all you're bringing to your work. There's so much more, especially in this one, with the stilted formality Marcus has, his stand offishness and desire to connect with Esca even though he believes it to be impossible. And that may *sound* like I'm commenting on the writing and it's characterisation but I'm not, it's what comes through in your reading.
