Dear Festividder!
Oh my gosh, I am so excited to be participating in Festivids for the first time! I haven't been too active in fandom in recent months (as you can probably tell from my journal), and I'm not signing up for any exchanges this season, but I have loved watching Festivids vids the last couple years and I can't wait to see what you will come up with. Thank you so much for signing up and offering one of my fandoms!
I don't have much to say here, being just a baby vidder with very broad tastes and no triggers to speak of. To be honest I struggled to come up with anything to say in my requests beyond "Their faces!" I like all kinds of music, all kinds of vids, and pretty much all the characters in these shows. I'll just copy my requests below. I mentioned not wanting to see torture from Scandal but if you're interested in exploring the violence from other sources like Children of Men and Top of the Lake you should go for it. I really hope you have fun making the vid you want to make, whether or not it matches with the characters that I mentioned. <3 <3 <3
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
My favorite new TV show, it makes me laugh so much. <3 Would love focus on Rosa, Santiago, and/or ensemble.
Caramel
Such a lovely, atmospheric movie! I love its live-in feel, the sense that all the characters really have been spending time together and sharing secrets for years. Being a queer lady myself I'm especially interested in Rima but I don't remember how much screen time she actually gets. I also really loved Rose and gentleman caller.
Children of Men
I remember feeling like it was unsafe to drive home after I watched this movie in the theater. I've seen it several times since then and I always find it to be so powerful and haunting. If you want you can go look at some fics I wrote about it years ago, or you can just make a vid about any of the characters or anything else about this movie because I love it all so much ahhhh.
The Hour
I really love all the relationships on this show and am especially fascinated by Feddie, Bel, Lix, Sissy, and Marnie.
Top of the Lake
Some things I love about this show are the beauty of the setting and the badassery of the characters, especially Robin and Tui.
Never Let Me Go
I sort of group this with Children of Men as movies that devastate me but that I admire a lot. With NLMG it's different because I have more feelings about the book than the movie - had a lot of deep discussions with my mom and later in a class where we read it, and it had us questioning a lot of what we thought about life and humanity. Well, and then I went through an Andrew Garfield thing a while back, as you do. Anyway, I encourage you to go for something painful and beautiful.
Scandal
Scandal! This show is so over the top and awesome! I hope you will have fun with it! Would you please avoid a focus on Olivia/Fitz, or any scenes of interrogation involving torture? Apart from Fitz I love all the characters and am open to all kinds of ships and interpretations.
