hyel and I have both signed up, meaning there is already a rockin' contingent of LotR and Faculty writers participating and you should join in too, even if you only write in one fandom. Even if all you've ever written in that one fandom is five drabbles. Don't you think you can handle writing one more drabble or other short ficlet by October 20?
