progress (I'm on vacation, I can spam)
I'm in a good mood tonight because I finished chapter 3 (well, really chapter 2C, or as I call it 2lF, but that gets complicated) of one of the WIPs that nobody has seen and very few people will probably read. Goodness did it take a long time, but it feels reasonably complete now. And little bits were added to several other chapters. Hooray!
I resolve to post more fic in 2006.
A very happy new year to all of you wonderful people. I can't tell you how glad I am to have joined this community this year and to have met all of you. I look forward to making new friends and getting to know you all better in the coming year, and to sharing our love for Frodo, Elijah, Casey, and assorted friends and lovers.

I wish us both the best of luck, then. To further this thought, that I can actually write what I want to, knowing that I'll post it whenever I damn please and even if it isn't people want to read, I wrote as good deal of OC femslash/het last night, did a large amount of rearranging re my OT4-verse, and just, you know, enjoyed myself while I did it.
One because it's Firefly and the other because it's long and takes place mostly in the Shire and has bits of het and femslash in it, and most of my friends prefer the interspecies slash.
You know, you're right -- when you post these, and I do hope you do when you can, I definitely plan on reading them. And... just because we normally do one thing or another, well, that doesn't mean our writing won't demand more of us, at times. I think it's better when our ideas make us go beyond what we've built up as our limitations!

Good thought. Part of the reason I asked people for ficlet requests a couple months back was because I didn't want to get too stuck in a rut. I ended up doing an RPF for that, which I hadn't ever really thought to try, and I enjoyed it so much. And my Firefly ficlet was in response to that too. (It's done, by the way. I'll post it as soon as the friend I did it for gets back from vacation.) I don't think either of those is a fandom I'll write much in, but it was really fun trying something different.
And then, well, these two long hobbit fics I haven't posted any of, and the Faculty one I started today, those are just my own ideas, and I worry a little about offending people because there's random badness that doesn't come from anything in canon, is just there so I can pile up the angst and maybe that will bug some people but... Hey, if they don't like it they don't have to read. They should figure out pretty quickly what all three of them are about and not get sucked into a universe thinking it's going to be comfortable. So yeah, I'm just gonna write them and post them.
