drabbles: Three Conversations

I've been playing with the dribble form again. This version goes from one word in line one to ten in line ten, then back down to one in line 19, for a total of (ta-da!) 100 words, making it a double dribble and a drabble at the same time. *way too excited* Any ideas for a name for this?

Three of these for slipperieslope, who separated her three requests here with or but who gets and instead, because I thought they would make a nice set. Sorry I took so long.


--Bilbo?
--Hullo? Yes?
--You're not sleeping?
--Smoke with me, Aragorn.
--The elves won't be happy.
--Only thing they get wrong here.
--Don't you ever wish to go back?
--To the Shire? Leave this place? Whatever for?
--To see some hobbit lady you left behind, perhaps.
--No, but I wish someone from home might come here.
--And who would be the other Elffriend of Hobbiton?
--My lad... Well, let's call him my nephew.
--Frodo. You have spoken of him before.
--He would get along well here.
--You could write, invite him.
--Not his time yet.
--A traveler, though.
--Like me.
--More.


--Breathe.
--Thank you.
--How are you?
--The pain is less.
--Can you feel your arm?
--Only cold, but the athelas helps.
--Just a few more days to Rivendell.
--We'll be safe there, and have Elvish medicine.
--And a hobbit who'll be overjoyed to see you.
--Strider, do you mean to say you've seen Bilbo?
--I know him, Frodo. We spoke of you often.
--And you really believe we'll make it there?
--If what Bilbo told me is true.
--I don't know what you mean.
--He spoke of your strength.
--I've missed him so.
--Hold on, Frodo.
--How long?
--Soon.


--Bilbo!
--My boy.
--Not dead then.
--Neither one of us.
--Strider said you were here.
--I'm glad he was with you.
--We didn't quite trust him at first.
--That Ranger getup does make him look menacing.
--Yes, but we should never have survived without him.
--You might remain here in Rivendell for a season, Frodo.
--I should like that very much, my dear Bilbo.
--Get to know Strider better, and the elves.
--And learn some things I'll need later.
--We could teach you better Elvish.
--How to use a sword.
--Not that, I hope.
--I'll need that.
--Rest now.
--No.

oooh, these are wonderful!! They just made me feel warm and fuzzy all over! And yeah. You ARE going to write me a Frodo/Aragorn fic, a mighty WIP that will blow my mind. Yep. *nods* I've decided that. And thus it shall be...:-D

I have kind of a lot of guilt about my other WIPs is the thing. But if I do ever finish them, then sure, I'd love to. Those two occupy my thoughts more and more lately. (Poor neglected Sam!)

What's really amusing about this whole campaign is that I've actually written a huge fic, which I will post once I get done revising, in which Frodo suffers terribly and Aragorn is completely absent. *is a horrible person*

But you were the one who did the limericks for Lily's Frodo-in-stirrups kink!! Those were fabulous and quite inspiring. I kept trying to come up with a Casey limerick after that (There once was a boy from Ohio...) but I just can't get the rhymes.

Damn it! How do you do that?! I spent like a week trying to come up with the Ohio poem and got nothing! *applauds*

Dribble though I do enjoy a lot. I wish more people would keep playing with them.

Oh these were a treat! All three and you made a story arc out of them, clever puss! And they are conversations, dialogs - so wonderful and you caught the characters and just everything. I feel thrice privileged.

Maybe a wordplay on 'three' for the title, or on conversation, or something like "Well Met", or "We Spoke of You Often" or something? I dunno. I am just well pleased. Thank you so much. They are wonderful!

We do need a name for them, since Claudia chose this form for her challenge response! Let me know if you come up with one and I will add it to the post for the hobbit_smut authors. It is a double dribble drabble.

Names are tricky because there are so many drabble variations out there it feels like all the vowels are taken! Ismenin (who's the authority, really) said the version with 110 should be a drubble. Shirebound said dribble-drabble for this one and I think that might work best, seeing as how it's both.
