lilybaggins, Five Things Aragorn Does that Get on Frodo's Nerves
Sharpens his weapons while everyone else is trying to sleep.
Starts talking in that regal voice and going on about ancient history when all you said was, "Goodness, those are some big statues."
Is forever asking "Are you sure?" and "Shall I stop?" when Frodo would rather have him concentrate on getting his clothes off, getting his cock in, and the like.
Refuses to understand that Frodo's announcements to the company about needing time alone and needing time to think actually mean he wants time for the two of them and time to roll around on the ground.
Goes far too long without a bath.

absolutefiction, Five Ways Merry Spied on Frodo and One Way He Got Caught
He listened in on that Serious Talk between Frodo, Bilbo, and Mother and Father in the sitting room. He was only a child then and he couldn't see why it was happening at all, and couldn't see why Frodo would tell anyone else first and keep it from him.
Frodo came to visit often though, and Merry went to Bag End, and Merry eventually forgave him for leaving. When they were together Frodo was just the kind of hobbit Merry wanted to be when he got bigger. Except: when he was alone Frodo sang silly love songs to himself, and Merry wanted to tease him about it, but he wasn't willing to admit he'd been spying on Frodo in his bath, even if it was only to listen.
Frodo and Merry got older, and Merry figured out some very enjoyable things he could do by himself in the bath, and only then did he understand some of other sounds he'd heard Frodo making years before. He talked to Frodo about it later -- not the spying, just the touching -- and Frodo was understanding as ever he'd been, and Merry found he had nothing to feel bad about.
He and Frodo were the only ones who weren't surprised when Bilbo left, and for some reason Frodo also wasn't surprised to see Merry taking it so well, so calmly. Probably he was too shaken up with the visitors and the emptiness and everything else to accuse Merry of spying, or maybe it seemed natural to him by then. Merry watched Frodo, Merry understood him.
He let Sam be his eyes and ears in Hobbiton those last few years, though he would really have preferred to do the seeing and hearing for himself, not to mention some touching. But Sam was subtle and surreptitious and not, to Frodo's mind, suspicious, as Merry probably would have been. Frodo had no idea, and at Crickhollow Merry was near bursting with the pride of a fool who thinks he's been clever. He thought he had it all figured out.
Merry, Pippin, and Sam all attended the secret council, though none of them had been invited. Sam gave himself away then and there, and Pippin was about to, but Merry held him back. They did not give themselves away to Elrond or the assembled company of Elves, Dwarves, and Men. But later in the day the hobbits had their own council, and Merry's eyes made it clear what he knew, and Frodo's eyes made it clearer he was glad, for he'd rather not have to say the words himself, not again. And although there were discussions and arguments, and although Elrond never completely agreed until just before they were ready to set out, Merry and Frodo looked at each other that day, and that was enough for both of them to know they would be going together.

danachan, Five Times Pippin Got His Way
Well, there was that question, in Rivendell, about whether he'd be allowed to go with the others or not. He thought Frodo would as soon have had him go home, and he never understood that until all those months later when he was riding back to Tookland, raising the Shire, and he thought of all the evil he could have prevented if Elrond had had his way. Still, and always, he was glad he went along.
Pippin was the one who convinced Boromir to give him and Merry sword fighting lessons. They didn't turn out to be terribly useful until a long time after Boromir was dead and gone, but they made a good diversion at the time.
Although not as good as that threesome he managed, also with Boromir and Merry. Pippin thought it would have been even better if Frodo had joined in, but alas, Frodo had found other partners and other pleasures to occupy his time.
Pippin looked into the palantír after Gandalf and Merry and common sense all told him not to. That only felt like getting his way for a few seconds before it turned into horror and then turned into what he'd feared all along, being separated from Merry. But it had, after all, been his choice.
Merry wanted to go with them to the Black Gate and would not listen to Pippin. But Pippin told Aragorn what to say to convince him, and told Éowyn and Faramir what to do to comfort him later. "Aren't you glad you let me have my way?" Pippin said when he awoke with his bones in casts, with his hand in Merry's hand, and Merry said yes, he was always glad, and kissed him good morning and happy new year.

Oooh, I love that. "Movie" Merry wasn't shown as anywhere near as clever and thoughtful as book-Merry, and that's a fact.

I love your hobbits. Just adore and love them.

The first set made me laugh, every one, but especially the one about the big statues. (Don't we all know people like that?)
Frodo and Merry don't have enough fics about them, especially ones that hit the levels you do here. I love the part where Merry and Frodo need only look at each other after their own council to know that they will go together. Merry is such a smart and solid partner.
I like that Pippin's getting his way didn't always turn out for the best, at least at first. But I was touched by how he saved Merry from the Black Gates, his question to Merry after he awoke, and Merry's quiet response. Lovely.

And another thing I seem to keep writing over and over again is the idea that everything that seemed to be a mistake along the way turned out to be necessary for the quest to succeed. Poor Pippin! Even his looking in the palantir ended up being helpful, but he couldn't know it at the time!
Thank you very much for your comments!

I'm still giggling over the F/A 5 things that you wrote for
Maybe you should try your hand at crackfics one of these days? I've a feeling that you're going to be real good at it.

Wow, Frodo must have been quite insatiable. :)
Oh, I laughed at these... thank you.
