writing meme

And now, a writing meme, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] hyel:

Post the first line of a story here, and I'll write the next five. No context or prompts, just a line, and if I don't twig who it is then you'll get something slightly surreal back!

If you post the next up-to-five lines, I will try to keep it going.

An exception to the no-context rule is that I'd like warnings in the subject line for spoilers or consent issues. Let's do this, I think it'll be fun.

ETA: Feel free to jump in and write more on a thread started by someone else too. Stories can branch off in different directions. I'm just in the mood for playing around and writing collaboratively.

Dreamwidth

I think I'm going to go ahead and copy my journal to Dreamwidth today and then start crossposting from there. LJ will still be my main journal because this is where most of my friends hang out.

I also think I'm going to make all my entries on InsaneJournal private and then stop updating there.

Anyone have any objections or advice?

Happiness days 13 and 14: Dreamwidth and that writing meme (also testing crossposting)

I think I'm happy that I imported/exported my journal to Dreamwidth today. Anyway I'm happy that it seemed to go very smoothly and only took a couple minutes. I was worried that all my old entries would flood the "reading" pages of my "subscribers" but they don't seem to have shown up there at all, so that's a relief. :) I have no intention of leaving LJ or disabling comments on LJ posts, but I think it'll be nice to have the other one in addition and maybe I'll get to meet some new people, which is always nice. The truth is I feel a little nervous and shy about posting to Dth (following [livejournal.com profile] iamsab I'm using this abbreviation instead of DW because, omg, Doctor Who), that it seems more public somehow even though I'll be using the same security settings I do on LJ and I haven't really given any new people access there, though I probably will in the future. Anyway, I've been meaning to copy and start crossposting for a while so it's exciting to finally be doing it.

I'm also happy that people are commenting on the writing meme I posted earlier today and in particular that a couple people have continued things I was writing. (LotR and Merlin fandoms so far but I'm planning on adding a new one in a bit and maybe I'll get some other prompts…) Usually commentfic is not my favorite thing because it's harder to edit and tag and index than fic in its own post, but I also really like the back and forth of writing with other people and wish I got to do it more often. I think it would be really neat if some of the threads branched off in different directions with different writers, like starting from [livejournal.com profile] claudia603's or [livejournal.com profile] baranduin's first line you could go any direction with any fandom you wanted.
