Happy birthday, mews1945! You are one of those people whose birthday becomes a holiday for the whole fandom because you're so important to us. Last week we all got to read the reports of the long expected party in Maryland and today we're partying on LJ. I hope you're having a good time. *hugs*

Today is also International Day of Femslash. I meant to write some fic but the day sort of snuck up on me (by being a week after the Remix deadline but also right at the Remix deadline at the same time) and I have some rl work this weekend so I probably won't get to it. :/

Still, it seems like a good time to say that Gwen and Morgana on Merlin make me really happy. It's true I've been reading Arthur/Merlin but I love that my new fandom also has these two women who are good people and who clearly care about each other and show affection for each other. I like that they were friends before Merlin came onto the scene and that their relationship isn't oriented around the guys. And since the show is not all about shipping either of them with Arthur or Merlin, fandom doesn't feel the need to do bad things to them or make them evil in order to get their guys together. There's a lot of Gwen/Morgana fic out there but there's also a lot of Arthur/Merlin that has Gwen/Morgana as a secondary pairing or all of them as friends. Whether or not femslash is your thing it is nice to have these women on TV who like each other, as we women like each other in real life.
