Exciting fandom news: Remix, ladiesbigbang, Fanlore
Remix sign-ups are open!! The sign-up form itself is on the AO3, but the detailed instructions are at the LJ comm
remixers_lounge and other news and announcements will be posted there too. I love Remix! Who else is playing?

I'm also starting to get really excited about
ladiesbigbang.
trascendenza started talking a few weeks ago about running a Big Bang for female characters, and I was all, Ho hum, if I want to write a Big Bang fic I'll sign up for
thelittlebang (for femslash) or
boxofmagic (for Merlin fic). However! It's turning out to be a very different and innovative kind of thing with lots of possibilities I hadn't thought of before. Besides being open to all fandoms and genres of fic, there are options for doing meta, recs, art, podfics, vids, art, graphics, picspams, and multimedia projects! And any of these projects could get a complementary piece in another media, besides the traditional set-up of a large fic being accompanied by a piece of art.
I had thought I'd just cheer
trascendenza on from the sidelines but right now I'm seriously considering trying to do a set of podfics. Never mind that I don't like reading aloud and I don't like hearing myself recorded and I have no idea how to work Audacity - I want this stuff to exist! And there's a podficcing workshop coming up soon at
camelot_fleet, so that should help.
Go check out the comm and even if you don't feel like taking on a big project yourself, consider giving permission for your fic to be recorded or leave some lady-centric prompts, or helping
trascendenza out with some graphics or a layout. Note that you don't have to be a Dreamwidth user to participate. Sign-ups will run all through April.

Also!
briar_pipe is gathering a bunch of people together to swarm the Fanlore Merlin pages next weekend. We want to get some good multiple perspectives and information on lots of different pairings and types of fan activities. I've done a little editing at Fanlore in the past and in general found it frustrating - overwhelming because there's so much to be done, lonely because other people aren't working on the same things, and then stressful because when other people do come along they're more likely to criticize ("Why is there so little there!?") than to collaborate or offer support. So! I'm really excited about this as a way of getting a lot of work done in a short time, introducing some new people to wiki editing, and giving each other help and encouragement. If you're interested in joining in, check out the discussion and planning post at
camelot_fleet.

And I can relate on the voice thing -- I always feel weird when I hear myself in a record message or something. I'm just like, augh! My voice D: But I guess it's one of those things where you'll sound so much better to other people than yourself.

Why hello there reason I try to avoid writing Britfic if at all possible. (Well, and also my pathological fear that if I get into Britishisms they'll infiltrate the way I speak all the time and then I'll just be constantly CONFUSED.)
So I want to at least give this a try!
I beeeeeelieve in you, my friend, I do!
