Friends, I hope you're doing what you can to help slow the spread of COVID 19! I know social distancing is harder for a lot of people than it is for B and me, but whatever flexibility you do have with work, social commitments, etc., please use it to help keep others safe.
I listen to a lot of news podcasts which means lately I've been listening to a lot of alarming podcasts. Friday's episode of The Daily from the New York Times, Learning to Live With the Coronavirus, has been one of the most alarming but also useful and full of practical information. Here are some things that have stuck with me:
-In addition to keeping distance from other people, pay attention to hard surfaces they may have touched. This includes everything you buy at the grocery store.
-When you need to go out, can wear or carry a glove for touching things like doorknobs and light switches.
-When they say only 20% of cases are severe or critical, severe means pneumonia and critical means organ failure. (Also 20% is a lot!) A "mild" case of COVID 19 is not like a mild cold. So even if, like me, you tend not to get sick and figure you're unlikely to get the severe version of this, it might still be very unpleasant.
-But anyway, even if you don't get sick you can definitely still spread the virus to people who can die from it so please try not to do this.
