A fic meme from
rubynye and
almostnever:
Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.
(Yes, I'm aware of all those requests from that other post. They're in progress. Really.)
Here is my fic index.
ETA: Okay, thank you for the ideas! I think I'll cut them off now and will try to do them all in drabbles.

The Shire was to be left in peace, with the Travellers there to keep watch, but once they disappeared it was war. The winter of 1420 was bad, 1420 far worse, and by now there is no Shire, only the mark on the map of where it was, a few burnt marks on the land where hobbits are no more.
And Frodo thinks how it all could have been different, how the choice was in his hands and he let it go. At night Aragorn tells him there's still hope, but Frodo hasn't believed in a very long time.

Okay, wow, that is just incredible. Please don't make me comment on what makes it incredible omg, only that it is.

Oh my goodness. You've just about killed me with this (I do mean this in a positive way, I assure you!!)
Now I want to know more about Aragorn -- what makes him cling to this desperate hope. Frodo doesn't believe, and his people are gone. He cannot ever believe again because it's too late. But what makes Aragorn hang on to that last shred? What keeps him going in the face of such utter devastation?
Gah......!

*is capable of doing nice things for Frodo from time to time*
I made this place mine, he thinks. Not like a king coming to claim his throne or an exile banishing Sackville-Bagginses from his hobbit-hole. It was believing and living and loving that made Minas Tirith his home.

♥ Gorgeous, that is.

They went back to visit, a few years after that, and couldn't much stand to breathe the close air at North Tunnels, but walking up to the edge of the Valley felt as familiar to Diamond as falling into dreams.
Tolly said it hadn't been fair of her to leave so sudden-like, that the sheep had missed her terribly. And Heather said never mind the sheep, that she'd been the loneliest when Diamond went away.
"You left me without warning too," said Diamond, "when you went off to fight. So I had to be free to go off to love."

On the other hand, he didn't want to put off eating any longer than he had to.
And it was odd, but he soon realized he didn't mind. There was no "going back", but he was happy enough to be going forward.

"There's only one examination table, Frodo. It's designed for women..."
"Right, good, so you won't be expecting me to fit into these, er..."
"The stirrups have been adjusted already. You should be fine."
"Er..."
"Here, start by lying down. Good, now scoot forward. Bring your bottom down to the edge of the table."
"Enough?"
"A little farther."
"But I'm already at the edge!"
"Just a few inches more."
"I'll fall off, Aragorn."
"You won't. I'll hold you."
