I'm happy to have an account but not sure what I'll be doing with it yet.

I don't understand how other people have gotten their Dreamwidth journals to look nice. I can only find three choices and I don't like any of them.

DW still makes me think Doctor Who.

If you, like me, are not code-savy but can follow pictures with arrows and copy-paste stuff, check out this guide to installing mixit themes on DW as the system currently works (come open beta, this will be a LOT easier) at thefulcrum.

Also, you might want to watch dreamwidthlayouts, which is where I got my layout from. There's only one at present (with a lot of colour choices!) but once they get S2 completely implemented, that'll change.

Hey, thank you! I had actually just found the one at thefulcrum a few minutes ago, looked at it, started following directions, and then realized it was more than I was up for tonight, so it's bookmarked and now I also have a handy link here. :)

You can actually get six icons to go with your OpenID account here! (I forget how you do it though and have a hard time finding my way around here myself.)

That's weird about the OpenID thing! Did you get your invite code to set up a journal here? Let me know if you want me to send you one.

The general consensus is that as I was able to get it to take "slipperie.livejournal.com" that night maybe the dreamwidth techies were running a program or tweaking the beta and that was why the window would not let me type "slipperieslope.livejournal.com". At any rate, by the next morning, after I had created a sock puppet and received an openID with slipperie.livejournal.com the night before, I was able to get the openID for slipperieslope and now I have an actual dreamwidth journal and I put you in my circle, Sophie. Or at least, I *think* I did : O

Thanks! I had looked at that one before and decided against it because I thought all the space on the left side was silly, but I think I am going to switch because that one gives you the plain comment pages and I want easy-to-read comment pages.

You're very welcome! I'm not really using it yet either - I think I will wait until someone makes a simple, readable journal style. :)
