[profile] remixthedrabble challenge

Hey everybody, let's all sign up for the [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble challenge when sign-ups open on Sunday. Yes, I know we're all busy and I know I whined kind of a lot while I was writing my [livejournal.com profile] remix_redux fic, but come on! Three weeks to write one hundred words! Let's have a whole bunch of hobbit writers sign up and it'll be a great time.

ETA: It is a challenge for writing ficlets of between 100 and 1000 words but encouraging those closer to 100. I think they went with drabble in the comm name because it is a fun word to say, but hooray for ficlets of various lengths! Let's all play!

It's really intriguing except the FAQ is fuzzy as regards length. Kind of wishy washy. I mean, if I entered a drabble remix challenge, I'd want it to be what I consider a true drabble, with the 100-word limit. Otherwise, it sounds like fun.

hee hee, I was going to say exactly the same. Was quite fired up to sign up, but like you, I think a drabble should be 100 words. If they really want to stretch it, I guess they could say it has to be 100 or 200 or 300 or 400 or 500... just not 96, 107. 269...

I know. I got really excited about the concept of a drabble remix challenge because, even as spotty as my writing is, I know I could manage 100 words in three weeks :-) But my brain for some reason is stubborn around that whole drabble definition. Still fume whenever I see someone post something called a drabble and it ain't, LOL!

[livejournal.com profile] claudia603 and I think that we should do a summer challenge and we could make assignments while wwe're in Chicago :-) Just think of the 3 Stooges possibilities ...

I just saw Dana's post. That looks very intriguing :-)

I can't tell you how much of a jones I now have for a drabble challenge where it really would just be the 100-word variety!

Absolutely. The word drabble got me excited because of how I look at drabbles. It's hard enough to write your own 100-word drabbles but to remix one *and* make it fresh and good? I think that could be very challenging and rewarding.

I just might for this one. I was a bit afraid of the longer one, but drabbles/ficlets sounds manageable to me. *ponders*

I might join. Three weeks to write one hundred words does not sound like a terrible thing (even though I had to dig around through the faq to find the wordcount).

I was actually thinking we might press on and do something with the hobbit remix, since remix_redux is pretty much over with (I check the mod's journal, from time to time, and all the stories that haven't yet been submitted either have pinch hitters or the original participants have got in touch for extensions or whatever). But maybe that was a bad idea from the beginning, I don't know.

I am home from work now omg and I really do think I will sign up for this one while I can! Writing a drabble in three weeks does not sound too difficult, but doing the same with a ficlet would probably also not be difficult!

Yay hobbits! (I hope I'll get to remix hobbits.)

I'm trying to swear off challenges!
