PSA: An Archive of Our Own

The fanarchive project for putting together a large multi-fandom site run by fans and for fans is getting into some (very impressive and exciting) concrete plans and has decided to incorporate as a non-profit in the United States. They're looking for volunteers for the board of directors, action committees, and other work. They'd also like help in spreading the news around LJ fandom and beyond, so in particular if you're involved with Yahoo groups, message boards, other archives, etc., you can help out by posting the following message in appropriate places:

A group of fanfic fans is forming to set up a nonprofit organization for collective fannish projects, including building a central fanfic archive. We are setting up shop in the fanarchive community on livejournal, located here:

Yeah! I really didn't expect them to get this going so fast. It's cool to see them taking action and not just talking about how great it would be IF this kind of archive existed.

Do you know is anyone going to post this to Middle Earth News?

It looks like the three maintainers MEN are also members of fanarchive, and I'm pretty sure I've seen them link to it before, so I expect they've got it covered. What do you think?
