Brokeback Mountain short story

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] geniusartist for the link to Annie Proulx's short story, Brokeback Mountain. Probably copywright infringement by whoever posted it, but I'm grateful anyway. And also more or less destroyed.

By the way, are all my fellow Elijah angst fans reading [livejournal.com profile] geniusartist's lovely and heartbreaking fics? You can get a taste of them on her Mirrormere page but should then friend her journal for more recent chapters. And even if that's not the kind of fic you're into, she's a delightful person and her other entries are also good reading.

I read one of her pieces and friended her so that I could read the rest. She is a very good writer.

I cannot withdraw from slash fandom. I am addicted well and truly. Three weeks of cold turkey and I would be writing it to have something to read.

Yes, defenitely reading. Have fallen behind a bit right now though.

Why sad? Something wrong? *hugs*

The first time I got to read Brokeback Mountain, it was through someone sharing a word document with me. But I have the collection that its in, now, and I've read it since then.

Wrote fic for it, too. *wry grin*

Why sad, dear?

We're all allowed to be, as you put it, cryptic and annoying in our own journals. You know, just so you know. *hugs*

I'll have to give the Brokeback fic a try tomorrow. Thanks for the rec, hon.

I love [livejournal.com profile] geniusartist's fic, and you're right, she is a delightful person! As are you.

:D

Thank you for that - I'll definitely be picking this up for a read later!

So glad you enjoyed the tigs, btw! Thank you for saying! It was great fun writing with everyone who contributed. It won't be the last collaborative fic, rest assured!

:D

Thanks for the shout out, luv.
*blushes and squishes you*

I'm glad you enjoyed Brokeback Mountain. Amazing, wasn't it? I read this review somewhere about how Ang Lee was actually more delicate in his portrayal of the story than how Proust actually wrote her story -- her style of writing I mean. I'm not normally a big fan of short stories, but there are gems like that that just... I really so admire writers who can put so much into very few words. I don't think it's easy.

And agreed with you, the story destroyed me, too.

Thank you for the rec. I'm pretty much devouring all of her works (except the one extremely angsty one - I wouldn't be able to cope with the subj matter - the water works would start and not stop).

*back to devouring*

Yup... If there's character death I can't cope. No way - no how.

I've read the book but couldn't resist reading this again. Thanks for the link.

And also more or less destroyed

What did you mean by that Sophi?
