A double dribble, dark, with hobbits.

Read A Thing of Beauty (the Remix for O'er-darkn'd Ways) by [livejournal.com profile] hyel! It's fabulous!

Ever since I became the master, it glows even brighter.
A rare jewel, more beautiful when I caress it.
It doesn’t matter what it wants for itself.
I know what’s best for us both.
Best was to bring him here
Because I want him here,
Shining in the dark
For me alone.
Frodo dear,
Precious.

Frodo,
My own.
Eyes so bright
Gazing only at me.
Hush now and be good.
No need to struggle any more.
You know I’ll take care of you.
No need to worry about the wide world.
No need to dwell on what’s over and gone.
Lie back and let your Sam take the hurt away.

Ooooh.. dark fic - this was terrific! I really enjoyed the ring's silky tone - it froze my heart for poor Frodo slave.

Wow, that is powerful. I thought it was the Ring at first, so that last line just blew me away! You do darkfic well! *shudders*

Yes, you did it well. I hope you'll continue to let your muse lead you there!

If you like darkfic, I recommend [livejournal.com profile] ithiliana to you. She has just begun exploring this genre, to great effect I feel. Go to her lj and you'll see she has a special area dedicated to darkfic.

She's one of my favorite writers, and she's written a wonderful variety of stories, both FPS and RPS. I recommend them all, actually.

Thanks for the rec - I just went back and read Futures Possible, and it's amazingly well-written. (David's a bit slow, isn't he?) I couldn't figure out how she would bring it to an end, and really liked her resolution.

Ah, that's excellent.

Wow, haunting and beautiful all at the same time.

So very nice!

Beautiful. I'll have to declare you (temporarily at least) master of the double dribble.

Beautifully done, and quite a shock at the end.

Very well done! *shudders*

Wrap me in a blanket with Frodo and you have a deal. :)

I love this. It's dark but beautifully written. It expresses Sam's love for Frodo very well. And the first 4 lines? Except for the word 'it' I think Sam could be refering to Frodo as well as the ring.

You rock Sophi!

Um, it still says "una tesoro presioso," I think...

I agree about the annoyingness of no comment editing. Still, -1 point for adjective agreement on Sophie's final drabble score. ;p

Or maybe you could write a full-length fic based on this. I think that would be very interesting indeed.

There're a lot of these alternative endings going around about what happened at the Crack of Doom and this one is very fascinating indeed. If I'm not mistaken Tolkien himself was thinking of having Sam pushing Frodo along with himself into the chasm.

That Spanish version looks intriguing. Wish I could read Spanish!

I think you'll like the fic Claudia's betaing for me now

That couldn't be the ongoing Frodo In Jail series, could it?

And I'm looking forward to that new AU. A Frodo without his Sam would be full of angst indeed!

[identity profile] grapeofdeath.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I've written around 10,000 words and have a lot of notes for an AU story about what happens to Frodo after Sam falls into the chasm. It's not really dark but it's angsty as all get-out.

Hopefully you'll post that some day. :)

Oh, man! That was dark indeed! *shivers*

Sophie, this is chilling and very well done. Do you mind if I link to it as an example of the form for some folks?

Let me know.

Thanks!
