lots of links, really a lot of them

Some things I’ve enjoyed reading recently:

Majorly AU Dom/Elijah

[livejournal.com profile] chaya's ongoing untitled Robotic Domlijah AU maybe meets Fireflyverse or Serenityverse or Chobitsverse or all series. (This link is to the first chapter, with links from there to the next four. You don't have to be familiar with Firefly that other 'verse to understand it. It is great.)

Robotrips generally: [livejournal.com profile] lisabellex and friends helpfully put together a list of links here. If you're locked out of that post and would like the links, let me know and I'll put them up here too.

[livejournal.com profile] almostnever's "An Unexpected Governess" parts 1, 2, and 3, hopefully the beginning of a very long novel based on [livejournal.com profile] oneangrykate's response to a prompt in the title meme, here. Elijah disguised as young lady to support his family as a governess at the Monaghan estate. Corsets omg.

An old, unfinished, achy high school wing!fic by [livejournal.com profile] undone27/[livejournal.com profile] intercursus (rereading this one, actually), "Ptera" parts 1 and 2.

Hobbits!

[livejournal.com profile] shirebound's The Three Towers, Frodo and the Fellowship returning to the Tower of Cirith Ungol post-quest, now complete!

An old fic by [livejournal.com profile] danachan, Upon a Field of Gold, a set of 26 drabbles of Merry's POV as Pippin recovers at Cormallen.

[livejournal.com profile] mariole's "Sweet Passion" parts 1 and 2, F/S, F/M, and F/S/M, restores my faith in the hotness of hobbit/hobbit porn.

Old meta by people I don't know

From a couple years ago, [livejournal.com profile] sullensiren's very amusing list of the Unwritten Laws of Fanfiction. Not laws in the sense of things you should or shouldn't do, but in the sense of things that will happen, no matter what you do. My favorite is #5, the law of disproportionate feedback. (You have to scroll down a page because she's got a meme at the top.)

From last month, [livejournal.com profile] schemingreader's post On positive feedback (why it's a good thing and more effective than negative feedback for helping others become better writers) and in particular this thread and this comment about genuinely constructive and helpful ways of doing constructive criticism.

Happy Froday, everybody! The weekend's almost here, or is already here for some of us. I'm supposed to be working on a paper that I'm supposed to present tomorrow, and am procrastinating by putting together links. What are you folks up to?

I just don't believe my characters should have to wait for the climax of the story to, well ...!!! Repeatedly. :-D
