A fandom meme

Yay! Have posted the masterlist at [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble and then gone through and edited all 150 posts to add in the authors' names. (omg.) I feel good about how the challenge went. Will probably repost my own fics here soon but for now I want to say thanks again to the three lovely people who remixed me:And now, here is a meme that I saw at [livejournal.com profile] lady_ganesh's journal and that I found challenging:

List 10 (or however many) platonic male/female relationships in fiction that you enjoy. Rules:
1. They interact in canon, preferably in a significant (apply your own interpretation of such) way.
2. They are not related. They can, however, view each other as surrogate family.
3. Neither has confessed or implied romantic love for the other in canon.
4. They have not dated, been married, had sex, or made out in canon, on purpose, and of their own free will.
5. A popular fanon ship is ok (though preferably not your ship) but a canon pairing you wish were just friends is out.
6. Try to avoid using the same character or series twice.
7. They don’t have to be friends.

My list:
1. Harry and Hermione, Harry Potter
2. Laura Roslin and Billy (I don't know his last name), Battlestar Galactica
3. The Doctor and Donna Noble, Doctor Who
4. Meriadoc Brandybuck and Éowyn, The Lord of the Rings*
5. Lucy and Aslan, The Chronicles of Narnia (eh, Aslan is male even if he isn't a guy, right?)
6. Merlin and Gwen, BBC Merlin*
7. Mal and Kaylee, Firefly
8. CJ and Toby (also CJ and Josh), The West Wing
9. Theo and Kee, Children of Men
10. House and Amber, House M.D.

*I have starred the ones I ship in a non-OTP-ish way, like I would read fic about them hooking up, but I'm also happy with the canon where they don't.

I am distressed at how long it took me to come up with ten, though I feel like I'm probably missing some really obvious ones. (It took me forever to think of Merlin and Gwen even though I totally think about them all the time, and [livejournal.com profile] lilian_cho just wrote me that drabble about them.) There are several other relationships from BSG, Firefly, and LotR that I like, but not so much Buffy or Lost or Homicide… What about you?

I'd love to chat about any of these relationships, but spoiler warnings in subject lines would be nice (thinking especially of House), and please don't say anything about BSG beyond the first half of season 2. :)

holy crap, Galadriel would turn into a smoking leather-bound dominatrix and poor Frood would never recover! :D

Frodo and Arwen!

Gwen and Arthur (but that's more UST, lol)

I never came upon Rosie hate in my corner of fandom, but I sure came across Arwen hate with some of the less mature F/A shippers, lol!

I don't have enough fandoms to not repeat them. :/

5. Lucy and Aslan, The Chronicles of Narnia (eh, Aslan is male even if he isn't a guy, right?)

Same could be said for Lucy and Mr. Tumnus. :D:D:D

Billy's last name is Keikeya. I am rather fond of him. He's the kind of character that I think prompts the maternal feeling in many! At least, he does in me. :) He certainly does in Laura too, I think, although she respects him also for his compassion and clear-headedness and political acumen (without being politically-minded!)

I like this meme, and my icon is one half of one of my ten pairs (well, really, I love all Mal's nonsexuallycharged relationships. I want to bounce his and Inara's heads together, though.)

Also, I read one of the drabbles you linked to, and it was awesome. :)
