List 10 (or however many) platonic male/female relationships in fiction that you enjoy. Rules:
1. They interact in canon, preferably in a significant (apply your own interpretation of such) way.
2. They are not related. They can, however, view each other as surrogate family.
3. Neither has confessed or implied romantic love for the other in canon.
4. They have not dated, been married, had sex, or made out in canon, on purpose, and of their own free will.
5. A popular fanon ship is ok (though preferably not your ship) but a canon pairing you wish were just friends is out.
6. Try to avoid using the same character or series twice.
7. They don’t have to be friends.

I am distressed at how long it took me to come up with ten, though I feel like I'm probably missing some really obvious ones. (It took me forever to think of Merlin and Gwen even though I totally think about them all the time, and

lilian_cho just wrote me that drabble about them.) There are several other relationships from BSG, Firefly, and LotR that I like, but not so much Buffy or Lost or Homicide… What about you?

I'd love to chat about any of these relationships, but spoiler warnings in subject lines would be nice (thinking especially of House), and please don't say anything about BSG beyond the first half of season 2. :)

Lol well I told you I ship them. And also Frodo and Rosie though I think that's more of a relationship that I enjoy from fanfic than canon. I know some people have run into a lot of Rosie hate in their reading but I never did. I always loved fics where she and Frodo got along and then also the ones where they had sex.

Frodo and Galadriel are interesting also but I think sex with her would be scary.

holy crap, Galadriel would turn into a smoking leather-bound dominatrix and poor Frood would never recover! :D

I never came upon Rosie hate in my corner of fandom, but I sure came across Arwen hate with some of the less mature F/A shippers, lol!

I saw this icon once, I totally should have saved it, it had a picture of Galadriel I think not from that scene but from earlier when she's just looking at them so hard they have to look away, and the text was, "Galadriel watches you when you masturbate." :D

How much Frodo and Arwen is there in canon? I'm picturing the stuff from the movie where she takes him to Rivendell but of course that's not in the books.

I thought about Gwen and Arthur and also Merlin and Morgana and also Morgana and Uther! (Take care, child, or I'll have you restrained!) Oh and Igraine and Uther!

Lucy and Tumnus is a good one! The movie version of him freaked me out a little bit (maybe because James McAvoy's too goodlooking for a fawn?) but I loved those parts in the book.

Billy's last name is Keikeya. I am rather fond of him. He's the kind of character that I think prompts the maternal feeling in many! At least, he does in me. :) He certainly does in Laura too, I think, although she respects him also for his compassion and clear-headedness and political acumen (without being politically-minded!)

I really loved seeing how devoted he was to her in those episodes. Like the the scene we were squeeing about the other night, the way he almost ignores Bill and is just interested in holding her up and helping her. It was really great. I have been a lot more interested in his platonic relationship with Roslin than in the romantic thing with Dualla or the jealousy toward Lee. I think I'm not really big on jealousy.

I like this meme, and my icon is one half of one of my ten pairs (well, really, I love all Mal's nonsexuallycharged relationships. I want to bounce his and Inara's heads together, though.)

Also, I read one of the drabbles you linked to, and it was awesome. :)

I love Mal and Zoe also! And Book and Zoe and Book and River and Book and Inara! And I like Jayne and River a lot too! It's a big contrast with Buffy where most of the male/female relationships either involved crushes or dating or are creepy! I think

lady_ganesh mentioned Giles and Anya and I agree with that but don't remember that part of the show well enough to say it's one of my favorites.

Also yay for Lilian's drabble! I'm happy that my kinky and wrong ficlet got remixed and I also got to write a kinky and wrong Merlin remix myself, though in both cases the remix was a lot less with the noncon than the original.
