31 days of happiness

Okay, I'm doing this:

For every day this month, post about something that makes you happy.

I did this in August of last year and it was great. It got me to post more and when I wasn't online I spent a lot of extra time thinking about things that make me happy and how to talk about them, which helped my general mood. I might not post every day but I intend to post about 31 things. Some of these posts will be friends locked.

Today I'm happy that it's July 1st. When I posted yesterday I was thinking it was July 1st already, but it was only June 30th. This means that I'm less behind than I thought, I have one more day than I thought to write my remix, and I still have time to do lotr_fic_recs mod stuff later today. This reminds me of starting daylight savings time in the fall or of finding a five-dollar bill in a coat I haven't warn in six months.

I'm also happy that my f-list is so great and helpful. Like I love that we came here for hobbits or other fannish reasons and since we're friends we help each other out with major life stuff but we can also help with little things like whether you can take knitting needles on a plane and whether owning a Mac will actually make you feel cooler. Thank you!

That date confusion thing happened to me recently, where I was sure it was June 29th when it was actually June 27th or something... fun!

*waves* This has not been a good month for me, as it turns out. I will ge tthe final post up today (and get my own rec done) if it kills me. Next month has got to be better!

You are the greatest! And I like the idea of posting about something that makes you happy. Is that a meme going around or is it a meme you created? Good idea!

So what was the answer on the Mac?

No answer on the Mac yet. I did spend some time playing with them at the store today and they turned out to be cooler than I'd been expecting, but also more expensive. I'm going to talk to my computer savvy brother and think about it some more before I buy anything. :)

This was a meme that was going around last August. I was going to wait and try it again this August but then I was in a good mood the last few days so I decided to do it now.

So should I do a new challenge post tonight? Any ideas on what the new one should be?

Yep, if you can! I was late this month though, so feel free to be late.

Probably time for something nice and tame and FP leaning. Perhaps a location focus like Lorien? OR you could do POEMS and SONGS or you could bring out the big guns and ask everyone to rec their favorite UNFINISHED fic (WIP, which has two prior entries and usually gets a lot of discussion!)

Hmm, songs and poems sounds like more fun to me, but I think you're right that WIP would get more response and that could be more fun. Thanks for the tips. :)

I think if I made the goal to post every day I wouldn't be able to handle it, but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to come up with 31 things I like. At least last year it was a lot of fun.

Happy July 1st, Sophie! I look forward to seeing your happiness meme posts. You and Claudia have inspired me to jump on the bandwagon too. Given that I'm utterly dreadful at posting regularly, it will be interesting to see how this goes!

(Oh, I'll say this... owning a Mac *does* make me feel cooler. However, I have no idea if I seem cooler to other people!) :D

Happy Canada Day to you! I went to the store today and spent some time playing with MacBooks. They were seriously cool. Right now I'm thinking I'm going to hold off for a little while, but the next time I get a new computer I really want it to be a Mac.
