help_haiti charity auction, but, well, seeing multiple links on my f-list was what prompted me to go ahead and make a donation to Doctors Without Borders, so I figure extra linking is a good thing. The tragedy is so huge and overwhelming but it's heartening to see people in fandom doing what they can to help in all kinds of different ways. There are separate posts at the comm for different kinds of goods and services and fanworks as well as these links to relief organizations.
*Hobbit fandom, also so generous and supportive! I feel wrapped up in blankets and love after posting that ficlet the other night.

westmoon, I forgot to thank you for your card that came while I was traveling. isis, the pedometer came in the mail today! I think I might try it out outside tomorrow. Thank you both!
*festivids went live yesterday with a ton of great fanvids for small fandoms. I'm not doing recs because I've just been watching based on the fandoms and everything I've watched so far has been awesome, plus I never know what to say about vids anyway, so just go check out the masterlist and have fun. Yay, vids.
*kinkelot is the new community for kinky Merlin fic and art about all characters and pairings. The first challenge, spanking, started today and will run through the middle of February. Spanking is one of my favorite things to read in fic but I've never written it because I'm shy like that. I don't know if I will this time either but anyway I'm excited about this comm getting started up and inspiring more of this kind of thing. I like all the mods and I think the comm will have a great atmosphere. They'll be staggering new themed challenges starting every two weeks but lasting for a month.

They have an OT4 banner too but I like this one best because of the look on Morgana's face. Ever since I read this fic at Solstice I've been daydreaming not so much about the Gwen/Morgana, which is the main pairing, but about the Merlin/Morgana fuckbuddies thing. From that fic (I'll come back and add the author's name after the reveal, which should be coming in just a few days!):
I don't know why but I ♥ this scenario so much. I keep picturing this Morgana getting interested in some new kink and doing a bunch of research and being all intense about it, and Merlin sometimes going along with it and other times just looking at her and saying, "Um, no," and also sometimes safewording in the middle of it, not because he's panicked or freaking out or anything, but just because he's not into it, so he tells her she'll have to find someone else to do it with. And then Morgana would sort of pout because she'd thought it would be fun but they'd kiss and laugh and it would be okay.
cherrybina had this post last week about how there should be more kink in Merlin fandom and some people came back and said, yes, certainly, because of all the canon dark magic and weird power dynamics, while other people said no, it was hard to do because the OT4 are JUST TOO ADORABLE. I say darkfic yay but I'm also with Bina and the others who say the sweetness should not be an obstacle. After all, they can be adorably kinky!
*kinkme_merlin just started up a new round. This is not really that big a deal since the old ones are always open for new fills, but whenever they post a new one I get inspired and think I'll actually manage to keep track of this one, but then I always get overwhelmed within a few days. :P The format is definitely not my favorite but there's a lot of great stuff there, and I'm really grateful to the mods for keeping it as organized as it is, with the pairings in order and the Delicious listings and all.
Anyway, looking through the new prompts this one made me LOL: Merlin/Uther, consensual sex in the missionary position (or as close as it gets). I don't think I've ever shipped a pairing before where this is about as challenging as it gets because noncon and dubcon are the norm.
