podficbigbang angst and indecision

I've been trying to figure out what to record for [community profile] podficbigbang and remembering that I just don't read all that much long fic. Do you have any recs for me?

Merlin fans, what are you favorite fics of, say, between 30,000 and 70,000 words? Anything you've read that especially made you think it would be great to have a podfic of it?

Readers, what are you favorite fics of over 10,000 words with women in the lead (any fandom)?

Some things I especially like:
-queer people (in the story, not necessarily/only in the main pairing)
-kink in relationships
-hurt/comfort
-captivity, exile
-world-building
-well developed secondary characters
-fics that have not been podficced before
-authors who give blanket permission

Some things I would like to avoid
-typos, spelling and grammar mistakes
-sentences with way more words and clauses than they need
-sexism, racism, etc.
-words and names I don't know how to pronounce :D

Briar's The Iwy Crown is my favourite Merlin epic - Morgana-centric Gwen/Morgana, have you read that one yet? Some 70 000 words, ruling warrior queens with lots of worldbuilding and well-developed secondary characters. That's one I'd be very thrilled and impressed to have as podfic. :D

This makes me wish I had a "long fic" tag on pinboard. Right now I have a "big.bang" tag but it only applies to fics that are part of a big bang challenge. Not all sorts of long fic.

Family Tree from this year's Merlin big bang is one of my favorites this last year, features kind of a gen OT3 vibe. Has good women OCs as well. Morgana is evil but it's very sympathetic. Plus, it's a little longer than I was hoping to record. Though if you don't do it I may have talked myself into recording it.

Seconding the rec! I finished reading it earlier today and it's excellent.

My top Merlin wish is a podfic of [personal profile] briar_pipe's The Ivy Crown.

In terms of long HP femslash, the one that comes to mind is Unbreakable by vanseedee, which is 35,000 words, has plenty of plot and some delicious kink towards the end. The Thermodynamics of the Moka Pot by tetleythesecond is also a great story, & only 11,000 words.

And I'm not sure if it fits your interests, but I'd also adore a podfic of Night-Blooming Heartsease by Julad, which is Snape/Neville (I know it sounds unlikely, but give it a chance), probably my favourite fic of all time, and I always cry at the end. Such a fantastic story, with great wordbuilding, amazing character development of Neville, and some fabulous humour (especially from the Weasley twins & the house elf).

typing from bed in iPod doesn't allow much links sorry

Long beautiful Merlin/Gwaine with longing lgbt characters working at relationships haircut fights and writing letters kink is Along a Wandering Mind by Hope 63k

For girls maybe As Soon As I Am Able by allothi ? Gwen/Morgana about 12k and is a big crush of mIne. Spandex and fun at stereotypes. Femslash and intrigue.

I'm not sure if either of theses dolls gave blanket permission. But what I know of them and their love of derivative fanworks they might have

Ok, fixing links now:

As Soon As I Am Able by [archiveofourown.org profile] Allothi, 11918 words, Morgana-centric (there's a very recent post on Allothi's journal about deleting their accounts soon though and orphaning the works, so earlier communication might be better than later if someone's thinking about this)

Along a Wandering Wind by [archiveofourown.org profile] hope, 63401 words, Gwaine-centric

Also, "dolls" was a weird auto-correct. That was meant to be "I'm not sure if either of these people gave blanket permission." Searching around, I couldn't find if Allothi had, but Hope has.
