some fics I've been reading (LotR and HP)

So, for the last couple days I've been spending a lot of time knitting while half-watching DVDs, and possibly more time than I should reading noncon. And it wasn't even that I was in all that much of a weird or dark mood, really more coincidence and, um, willingness.

From claudia603's version of the year in fic meme I clicked on an old fic co-written by her and azhriaz that I hadn't read before, the Frodo/Boromir fic Splinter, which is really very brutal but, um, does a good job getting at that kink that I think a lot of us have felt since we first watched FotR, and watched Boromir watching Frodo in it. The fact that it's Boromir POV and the way he keeps telling himself that Frodo wants it makes it especially disturbing.

Another window that I have open though I have not finished reading it yet is rubynye's Lotho/Sam fic Pocket Money, which has warnings for coerced consent and other bad things. So far it is a lot less explicit and more sad than these others. I really love her characterizations, especially this Lotho (er, not that I love him, but the way she writes him and his POV). See if the first paragraph doesn't make you shiver a little:

As he strolled smiling down the path to Bagshot Row, cane swinging in his hand, Lotho thought over the plans he was about to set in motion to gain himself something he wanted. After all, he knew that anything he desired he deserved to have. Any toy, any sweet, any piece of clothing or land, any lass or lad. "No" was not a word said to Lotho Sackville-Baggins.

I've also been reading some Harry Potter fic, including Tied With Silken Ribbon by starrysummer, whose Brick fic for Yuletide I so loved. Her summary on this one is "Harry likes Draco better when he can barely breathe. Or postwar H/D with kink and corsets." And I'll just add that HP fic is where I go when nothing in hobbitfic is kinky enough, and also that this is very well written. In the comments she gives me links to some of her other stories (including a fic about Horatio of Hamlet!)

Also, last night I got to beta danachan's very consensual but still very porny and excellent Distance and Depth, Estella/Diamond, Merry/Pippin, NC-17 with no lube. :)

Oooh, I still owe you feedback on that fic. I finished it just before I left for Florida and I've been online less since then, but I will come back. Thanks also for the link to the Pippin/Denethor. I will check that out soon. :)
