pimping multifandom comms / a drabble meme

Last night I came across a new LJ community called fanficofcolor. It's a place to post or go looking for fics about characters of color since they too often get neglected and can be hard to find in other places.

remixthedrabble is running a lightning round in which each participant will get matched up with three others! I loved playing in the first round and would love to sign up for this one as well but I'm a little worried that I'll be difficult for the mod to match. I'm certainly willing to write in a lot of different fandoms, but one has to have written at least three fics (which can include drabbles) in at least three different fandoms. I just barely qualify since I have exactly three ficlets (including one drabble) in the Firefly/Serenity 'verse. And my having a few Faculty ficlets probably won't help her much since I don't really expect any other Faculty writers signing up. :(

I was thinking though that I have two short Lost fics written and, really, how hard would it be to add one more drabble before I sign up? That way I could list four fandoms and maybe that would help. Sign-ups are open until the 18th. I'm not really sure what to do though. I started a Sun vignette a while back but it wasn't really going anywhere. I had an idea for a Naomi ficlet this morning but it's wanting me to fake my way through some British slang, which could be a real disaster!

So! Let's see if you can help me come up with something. I would love to get some Lost drabble prompts in three words each – either one or two of the words can be character names. Maybe if I can confine myself to drabbles I can actually write several of these in the next few days while also finishing that waymeet challengefic omg.

Ha, I've been thinking for several days about how I could do something with Charlie's tattoo. My thought was that he'd be a little snobbish about the hard rock at the tattoo parlour. :D

I hope the comm catches on - I think it's a great idea.

I worry about this kind of thing sometimes when the research gets so interesting, that in the end it's not going to be "story about our favorite characters and their relationships" so much as "Sophie shows off her newly acquired knowledge of differing Islamic doctrines." Might be tough to fit into a drabble too, but I think I can make this work. Woot! Good prompts!

All very interesting. I'm a Fac-lover too, but I dunno who'd take it on, either. We'd be writing for each other, lol! Plus, the only fandoms I've dabbled in are Some LotR RPS, LotR FPS, Faculty and The Third Man. :|

Do you have three fics in The Third Man? There's no rps in the challenge but with the other three you could join. It wouldn't be a problem if we were remixing each other. A lot of the people in that comm are in really tiny fandoms so I'm sure she'd just appreciate having more people.

Hmm, dunno... I'm kinda hitting a depressing lil' spot right now. Just being kinda wanky at the mo. I've also DONE a remix of fics before, but I didn't get mine in return--then a secretsantafic exchange, and I JUST got SOME of the story written for me. And to be honest, it's not written very well at all. Rush job, even if the person I had--the same one who did MINE--got a good 38 pages from me, beta'ed and one of my best.
Maybe I could try it, though. Just a bit jaded and bummy right now. :(

Oh, I hear you. Challenges can be very frustrating and I think exchanges have that potential, so much pressure and so much in the way of expectations. I eventually had something awesome written for me in the mashup but it was kind of awkward for a couple of months there, and the person I wrote for dropped out and never read what I did, nor was it something that appealed to my f-list. It really could really would be fun to have some Casey in the exchange though. I mean, Casey improves any situation. I'm sorry you're having a tough time now. *hugs*

Eh, I'll get over it. It's just been yucked up with my body on the fritz and my brain getting fried... stupid crap, really, lol. The mashup comm I was in, I'd writ double duty for, too. Lol. I'm such a SUCKEEER!!! ;) Blagh!

Are you a Lost fan too? I've hung on through the third season but I'm not sure if I'll be watching again in... is it January that they're coming back? Season one was great though.

I am a LOST fan - or at least I was. Not sure I'll watch the new season - it will depend on what else is on at the same time. I'm sad that Charlie is gone and didn't like the direction they took Jack's character in. My curiosity may get the best of me and make me watch the season premiere and then depending on how good that is decide if I'll continue. I loved season 1 - but it's been kind of a love/hate relationship with the show since then. It is so hard to follow the show then they kept mixing new episodes with reruns. I think it is Jan or Feb that it comes back. Seems like forever from now!!
