Hi everybody. I’m Sophie and I’m brand new, or new to having a LiveJournal anyway. I’ve been lurking around several fandoms for several months, devouring stories about hobbits, more recently stories about the lovely actors who portray them, and occasionally stories about other characters played by those same actors... but really the true love is for the hobbits, I think.

I’ve just gotten through another semester of grad school despite an ever growing fanfic obsession and I think the time has come for me to start being a bit more social. The few authors I’ve been in touch with so far have been very friendly and welcoming, and I can’t wait to get to know more of you.

If I ever finish any fics myself I’ll post them here, but for the time being the purpose of this journal is to leave comments on other people’s fine writing and, I hope, have some good discussions about common interests.

Ah, if I friend you it’s probably because I like your writing and want to keep up with your posts. If you’d rather I not do this, please let me know (but then I’ll just have to stalk you anyway). I will not be offended in the least if you don’t friend back.

I think that’s about it for now. There are new chapters of Rites of Passage and Borderlines up since I was last online, so I’m looking forward to a long afternoon and evening of angsty reading goodness. Thanks for stopping by.

Well, he *is* gorgeous, so it's not too difficult to find gorgeous icons of him. Proverb's got zillions of them though, I took this from her website, http://www.proverbialweb.com. It was the closest I could find to shy!Frodo.

I just tried using some html to put in that link and it didn't work. :( Well, I've still got time to learn, I guess.

That icon doesn't look like a movie frame, though . . . it looks almost like a painting or something. Ethereal. Okay, more ethereal than usual. :)

The link worked when I clicked on it. For LJ, you don't have to use HTML for URLS.

I know, but I wanted to do it so you could just click on "her website" and it would take you there. I managed something like that in the entry I did tonight and, ugh, my first LJ cut (that took a few tries), but I couldn't do it in a comment. Oh well.

Uh-oh, I'm no help there. I've wanted to figure out how to do that for many a long year now on LJ, but, er, never have.

Maybe it's the same as linking in a web page. Hrrrrm.
