Hi everybody. I’m Sophie and I’m brand new, or new to having a LiveJournal anyway. I’ve been lurking around several fandoms for several months, devouring stories about hobbits, more recently stories about the lovely actors who portray them, and occasionally stories about other characters played by those same actors... but really the true love is for the hobbits, I think.

I’ve just gotten through another semester of grad school despite an ever growing fanfic obsession and I think the time has come for me to start being a bit more social. The few authors I’ve been in touch with so far have been very friendly and welcoming, and I can’t wait to get to know more of you.

If I ever finish any fics myself I’ll post them here, but for the time being the purpose of this journal is to leave comments on other people’s fine writing and, I hope, have some good discussions about common interests.

Ah, if I friend you it’s probably because I like your writing and want to keep up with your posts. If you’d rather I not do this, please let me know (but then I’ll just have to stalk you anyway). I will not be offended in the least if you don’t friend back.

I think that’s about it for now. There are new chapters of Rites of Passage and Borderlines up since I was last online, so I’m looking forward to a long afternoon and evening of angsty reading goodness. Thanks for stopping by.

Oh, asking to friend is absolutely not necessary! Jeez, when I jumped in, I just friended everyone I liked and just butted right in. *snicker*

Thanks for the icon compliment -- I love them, and I love making them. It doesn't stop me from suffering from icon envy, though; some people are soooo good at making them! Yours is beautiful, by the way. :)

It's funny, because I can't see how anyone could possibly be offended by it, but then again I see people apologizing and asking for permission all the time. Also, I did once see a rant by a girl who was upset that "someone I've never even heard of" had sent her an e-mail. That kind of thing can be a bit intimidating.

Hey, can´t help but jumping in here.

I just had a "crises" or something, over that fact. I got some one who friended me that I don´t know. I was not offended, merely surprised and taken off guard. It´s quite nice actually, I just don´t know why. I mean, I´m not one who puts anything interesting in my journal. I only read everybody else's.

LOL! I was being silly. Over that crises now.

Oh, some icons are just to die for. Wish I could do some myself. I have one similar to yours here. Love his face. Love Frodo!!!

Hi Suzy, good to see you here! I don't think you should be surprised that people put you on their list. We're friendly people with a lot of common interests and tastes, so it's fun for me to know what stories you're reading, what movies you're watching, how you're feeling about things, even if you don't post a lot of stories or pictures.
