some recs

I won't be posting Deathly Hallows spoilers here. In fact, you probably won't see much of me at all next week since I'll be staying off-line most of the time to read (I'm a fairly slow reader) and then leaving for Chicago Wednesday morning. I'm meeting up with some friends from college in the days before elfmoot2007 and I'm very excited about all that.

For now though I'm working to finish my remix fic and doing a whole lot of fic reading, and I'm enjoying myself so much! I've read some excellent challenge fics that I can't say anything about yet because they haven't been posted, but I'm looking forward to them coming out. Here are some links to some great public fics in several fandoms. Most of them are famous fics that everyone who reads the respective pairing knows about already, but I figure it won't do any harm for me to mention them again. :)

claudia603 wrote Not Forgotten, kinky and sad Frodo/Boromir AU, "something like a darker Shire Slave, only with slash and wrongness." I know she wrote it for herself but it's also kind of like she wrote it for me and I loved it so much! I love that she did the whole thing from the creepy!Boromir POV, as that adds a lot to the wrongness of it.

Lotrips AU
A recently updated Dom/Elijah: Like Spinning Plates by almostnever. Author's summary: "Dominic meets "Danny", who may or may not be a rentboy, amnesiac, and/or Elijah Wood." There is some really wonderful porn in the third part and then some delicious angst and uncertainty at the end. I hope there will be more soon.

And two long Monaboyd fics that were finished a long time ago:

101 Things to Do in Zero Gravity by acroamatica, Dom and Billy in space!! It has a really exciting plot with action and suspense but also keeps the focus on the relationship between them (yum, established relationship fic!) and there is some really lovely hurt/comfort toward the end. And then more action and suspense!

_dilse by strawberryelfsp, Dom and Billy in 1920s Dublin!! I'm still in the middle of this one so I can't say too much, but it is really nice, spare writing with lots of tension and divided loyalties and such. I also like that she's done interesting things with a lot of secondary characters like Bernard and Miranda and Orlando (though, sadly, almost no Elijah).

Stargate Atlantis
In the City of Seven Walls by auburnnothenna, John/Rodney. Some of you know that I dig slavefics in a pretty major way, such that I'll read outside my normal fandoms for them (I've still only watched the first season of SGA). It's really worth it in this case. The writing is really gorgeous and the thing is just huge (recently updated and almost finished) and so rich with angst and palace intrigue and hotness.

spoilerless Harry Potter
Cambiare Podentes by jordangrant: the first part, Invocare, was posted all at once back in 2005. She's been posting the second part Madurare, for a little over a month and it's up to 45 long posts now. Um, another slavefic epic. Seriously though, they're both really good! In this one Harry has to become Snape's slave, but it makes sense in the fic! Really! Snape is just the way I like him, prickly and sometimes downright mean but deep down a good person with good intentions. There is some crazy hot sex, but the author also does a great job making kissing or a backrub hot.

I also read a very old (2003) and lovely short fic, Oral History, by acadine. G-rated femslash centered on Padma Patil and what it's like to be Indian at Hogwarts.

Yes! It has funny parts and angsty parts (and torture and sexual assault in the middle followed by some lovely h/c), but mostly I thought of you because I know strong plots are one of your kinks. :)

Thanks for the fic recs - will add to my list of things to read...........someday!! I was so spoiled before I went back to work - I was able to read to my hearts content. How I miss those days. *sigh*

There is some really great stuff on that list, though not a lot of Elijah or his characters, except for Claudia's fic and Almostnever's. I did cast him as an OC in the HP slavefic (the character had dark hair and blue eyes, although the author also mentioned that he was tall) and that helped make it sexier. :D
