Serenity?

A question for elanorgardner and all the rest of you Firefly zealots: if I've never seen the show, should I still go see Serenity tomorrow night? (And no, Elanor, renting the DVDs and catching up this weekend is not an option.)

ETA: Yes, everybody go see it, even if you haven't watched Firefly! Serenity! Go see it right away!

Yes, go see it. (And feel my jealous wrath, cause I ain't going tomorrow.)

No, you don't need to see the series (but it IS fun, trust me!) The movie was made to "catch you up" without boring you silly. At least that is what they tell me.

I can't wait. But don't feel guilty, just cause you get to go and I don't. *sniff*

Great, thank you. I definitely believe you that the series is awesome, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie too. (I'm a big Buffy fan, just haven't had TV around a lot lately so I haven't gotten into newer shows. I haven't watched Lost yet either.) I'm really looking forward to this. And Everything Is Illuminated is also coming to town this weekend!

OMG Elanor this movie was so awesome! When do you get to see it?

And I hadn't realized there were only 13 episodes of Firefly! I think I may have to get out those DVDs over the next few weeks after all. And then go back and see the movie again. Yay! Thank you for your campaign.

Yeah, quite a lot of bad stuff happens. I should tell you that two of the Firefly fans I saw it with were very disappointed, found it to be too dark and too violent.

But I loved it! Loved it!!! And so did the other Firefly fan who was with us. I'm sure you will enjoy it too even though you will be sad.

I'd say go for it, for the reasons that elanorgardner just said. Then if you like it and see the series, you can go back later and pick up on anything you may have missed.
