So, if I were to write a drabble or other short ficlet for you, what would you want it to be about? I can't really promise I'll do it, just looking for ideas. Thanks for your help, -Sophie
I'd love to see you try your hand at Firefly fic, provided you continue to enjoy the DVDs. My top vote would be for something Jayne-centric or, of course, Inara/Kaylee. Vague enough for you? (c:
I will see what I can do once I finish the DVDs. And it's funny, as hot as everyone is, I'm not getting that strong a hankering for any particular pairing, so once I get there I'll likely be looking around mainly for gen fic. Go figure.
Well, I actually prefer gen to any other kind of fanfic, most of the time (so many pairings that are out there just seem so forced to me...), so I can't argue with any of that.
Sometimes the very forced pairings are especially fun, but I know what you mean. I do enjoy friendship fics a lot, and I love all the friendships on that show.
Ooh, that sounds very nice! The forming of the conspiracy, like. I've seen a fair amount of Merry and Sam being jealous of each other over Frodo, but more of them both loving him unselfishly would be fun.
I never did finish that PWP I told you I was trying to do. It's like (*checks*) 1500 words, but really not close to being done, damn it. Maybe I should try summarizing it in 100.
Funny you should ask... I don't write RPS, or at least I never have so far, but I have been to Prague and have fantasized quite a lot about Elijah in Prague, haven't seen nearly enough fic about it. In particular there's an image in my head of him and, er, somebody else in a rickety old Eastern European elevator that I can't seem to shake. *blushes*
Frodo/Faramir though, I might give that a try. (And yes, you are predictable, in a very endearing way!)
I got this really great idea. Frodo and Merry travel to Bree on an adventure. Only Bree is all screwed up with evil people and stuff, and hobbits are second-class citizens. And Frodo ends up in JAIL!!!
I am so stalled at this point in that story I kinda wish I could just end it in just 100 words. Let's see.
So Merry goes back and finds Strider, and Strider is angry at them both for being so foolish as to get arrested, but he remembers how fetching Frodo looked when he was at the bakery and he decides to rescue him anyway.
Strider is scruffy and stern!
Strider storms the jail brandishing a big sword and the jailer says something insulting about him caring for hobbits and not real Men. Strider makes an impassioned speech about the equality and dignity of all living creatures and then sweeps Frodo up in his arms and rushes out of the jail.
Aw, that's easy. All I have to do is replace my "Strider is scruffy and stern!" with "Strider is wearing a tutu!" Same number of words, see? Except it would be more fun if Strider were scruffy and stern(!) while wearing a tutu.
Unusual clothes, yes, why not? Thanks for the suggestions and the hugs.
I dont know whether this storyline has been written or not. And this is more of a full-length fic than a drabble/ficlet.
I'd love to read an angsty, just-orphaned Frodo living at Brandy Hall with relatives who really couldn't be bothered with him. Not cruel, just that they're too busy with their own lives to really notice him. Except Merry.
Hmmm, I don't know about neglect by Brandybuck relations, but my favorite recently-orphaned-Frodo stories include Marbles and Slingshots by baylorsr and Of Tears and Trees by elwenlj. Both are very well written and good for a nice cry, if that's what you're in the mood for.
Err, angsty? Pre-aliens. Zeke interfering with the bullies for once, perhaps? H/c. With Zeke giving Casey a piece of his mind as well, you know, him wanting Casey to fight back instead of just taking it.
Either just pre-quest, or maybe before that with something to do with the conspiracy having been formed (well, when Pippin butts in on it, charmer that he is), or, alternatively, something just post-quest in Minas Tirith, with Frodo and Pippin (I love Frodo through Pippin's eyes), or -- well. Something with the Scouring.
Oh, much better. Actually, that works out very nicely since mews1945 requested Merry and Sam pre-quest, and I figured Conspiracy, so Pippin butting in would be a good little sequel. That's what I was thinking I'd do if you didn't make a more specific request.
(I write drabbles for the holidays -- as gifts -- so, if you'd like one, you can go and look here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/danachan/537845.html).)
I love your request! Because, you know, River IS a brat (http://www.livejournal.com/users/the_danamark/33546.html). (And you should see what she gets up to in the latest Firefly I've written... Okay, I should probably get that one posted. I'm working on it. Really.)
That all said, er, you're welcome. I like doing this sort of thing.
Oh, man, Cormallen has got to be my all-time favorite site for angstiness. Have you read oselle's Healed? It is one of my favorite fics ever, saved on my hard drive and reread many times. Have you read the rest of these? I seriously don't feel like I could have anything to add...
Except that, well, Cormallen also happens to be one of the opening scenes of a monster AU I want to do someday. I hesitate to post any of that because I don't know if I'll ever finish it, but maybe I could e-mail you some of the Cormallen scene I have written? (This fic positively wallows in angst omg.)

If not, how about Frodo/Faramir? (Ha, am I predictable!)

Wow, I'd sure like to read it. *pets you*

Frodo (on the floor, admiring the view) would fall for him, naturally. I love it when love blooms!
Okay, write a drabble about Strider in unusual clothes. Just to get the ball rolling. *hugs you*

You know, poor-relative type of fic.
Have you come across it anywhere?
Can you write it?

Pippin Pippin Pippin Pippin Pippin Pippin Pippin! *bounces* I would like it if you wrote some Pippin, please. *is incredibly vague*

Any more specific kind of Pippin you're looking for though? Time period? Mood? Other characters? (I have trouble coming up with ideas on my own!)
I don't know why I find Pippin so intimidating, but I do.

... okay, I could go on.
*hugs* Is that any better?

This might take me a while, just so you know.

Of course, I watched the entire series in three day. It kind of ate my brain. *has such Firefly love*
