trascendenza suggested last night that I record this, so I did! I realize it'll probably take you longer to download it than to listen to it, but I'd really appreciate it if any of you could check it out and give me some suggestions, especially on technical stuff. I recorded this on GarageBand and thought it sounded okay there, but then when I exported it to iTunes I thought it sounded breathy and echo-y, and I would like to know how to avoid/fix that before I try to do something more substantial. Thank you!

Dude. Dude. I am so shocked that you don't like the sound of your voice! It's really lovely and clear. For some reason I imagined you with a different accent.

Huh, yeah, now that you mention the echoiness I did hear it a bit, but obviously it didn't detract since I didn't think of it until you said it. Would that I had a tech tip for you. So much of my circle is getting into podficcing that I am getting curious myself. How have you liked it so far?

You know, I am trying to get through it by keeping in mind that almost everyone seems to dislike the sound of their own voice? I don't know, this one wasn't too bad because it was so short that when I screwed up I just started over, but other time I've tried I've just found it really hard to get through more than a paragraph without stumbling over my words, and then the editing has been very frustrating.

But thank you!! I am going to keep trying. I just picked another slightly longer f/f piece of my own (which yay doesn't have much dialogue) that I think I'm going to try recording tonight or tomorrow, and then I can post them both to Amplificathon - I'd feel pretty silly posting this all by itself. :)

Yay, podfic from you! It's a really lovely little piece, and I think you've done impressively well with the quality. Exporting to iTunes seems to do odd things to the sounds, most of the time, and I don't know how to avoid that. But if you want to reduce the echo (I hardly noticed it), there's a setting in Garageband to do that, under Instruments and Details.

Thanks! briar_pipe mentioned that she has some tips for filters and such in Garageband so I'm hopeful I can improve the sound a bit.

This seems a good time to ask you if I could have permission to read Bird of Passage. If I can get the hang of this podficcing thing I'd really like to do a set of modern AUs for ladiesbigbang.
