While the world has continued to be awful, voiceteam has continued to be great. The competition wrapped up yesterday (my team won omg!) and will be back next year.

In the third week of May we made a lot of podfics for very small fandoms, and in the fourth week we made some multivoice stuff but mostly made plans! So I hope to have some bigger things in bigger fandoms to post soon. Also I will get to keep hanging out with other Voiceteam folks.

Podfics I Have Made since May 17th
-Just to Keep It, a six-minute podfic of a story I wrote for the book and movie The Hours back at Yuletide 2008. Editing this made me cry.

-Drabble Series, two drabbles for the series Noah's Arc, 2 minutes.

-The Dance of the Cranes, a six-minute podfic of an old Northern Exposure fic by our own trascendenza. Recorded outside!

-The Circle Game, an 11-minute podfic of another old Yuletide fic, for the 2008 movie Saved!

-Stumbling Towards Better, a 17-minute multivoice podfic for the Netflix series Russian Doll, narrated by me and featuring appearances by most of Team Red.

Don't Need No Credit Card To Ride This Train, a 7-minute multivoice Harry Potter podfic in which I don't do any speaking but which took me hours to edit so I'm claiming it as mine.

Multivoice Podfics in Which I Have Small Parts
-Special Providence, a five-minute podfic for the book Tam Lin.

-Wine and Cheese, a 20-minute Red vs. Blue podfic.

-The Little Red Yoshi, a 12-minute podfic for the video game Yoshi's Story, in which I play Birdo. (I love this one, gosh.)

-An Opening for a Sidekick, a nine-minute Disney princesses podfic.

-Whole New Worlds, another nine-minute Disney princesses podfic. Actually I have a bigger part in this one, I'm the narrator, but blackglass organized it and did the editing.

-Blanket Gift Policy, a delightful four-minute MCU Christmas podfic.

-A Study in the Soothing of Magical Hockey Babies, Conducted by Jacob Trouba, a ten-minute Hockey RPF podfic.

Another big podfic event coming up is the pod_together challenge, where writers and podficcers collaborate to make something new! Signups are open at the comm now through Saturday, June 6th.

Okay, first of all, claudia603, I need you to watch the first three and a half minutes of the 2014 movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Here it is, I'll wait:



Isn't that delightful? Okay now you are set to understand most (though not all) fanworks for this ship, including the three I talk about in this post. Like there are a lot of movies and other stuff does happen to these guys but a lot of it is sad and a lot of Sam/Steve fans want them to be happy so there we are.

Yeah so I participated in samstevesmallgifts, a lovely low-key fanworks exchange with just one pairing but a lot of my favorite MCU people.
-potofsoup wrote me Day after Thanksgiving, which is very much my jam, a good quiet fic about two people in a relationship talking about big personal stuff like being gay in the military at different times in history. There is also a bonus drawing of Sam/Steve smooching! :D
-I made the only podfic in the exchange (thanks, mods, for including podfic this year!), and then the bears came, a very cute fic about camping, written by my recipient oh_no_oh_dear. It is 13 minutes and rated G.
-And then I also wrote them a fic, just like an oven (I need some lovin'), a little over 2000 words, rated mature. This is my first m/m fic in four and a half years!!

This was also my fourth year participating in #itpe, the Informal Twitter Podfic Exchange! I got assigned to Olive2Read, a new podficcer whom I'd started following a few weeks before, and at first I was a little worried because they'd requested Killing Eve and I'd signed up to offer that while watching the first season, NOT REALIZING THERE WAS A WHOLE SECOND SEASON that had inspired a lot of femslash fanworks but which I didn't have access to. Also Olive2Read but didn't want graphic violence and in that fandom there is a lot of graphic violence because of the source. Anyway it all worked out because they'd also requested Schitt's Creek podfic, specifically anything other than the m/m pairing that dominates that fandom. And once I started reading I found some delightful such fics and had a blast recording them. In general I have a blast whenever I get to record in a sitcom fandom because the character voices are so fun, and I also always get a kick out of making femslash podfic at Christmas so yeah.

Meanwhile lattice_frames got assigned to me and made me two podfics for maybe my favorite MCU femslash pairing, Carol/Maria from Captain Marvel. (Claudia you'd be into this ship too.) They are "Enough" written by fabrega and "you are my sweetest downfall (i loved you first)" written by QueenWithABeeThrone. I got them in a DM and got to listen to them while walking around the elevators in my parents building on Christmas evening because it was too cold to go outside. Also the irrepressible reenajenkins made me a podfic of probably my favorite StarWars ship, Jyn/Cassian from Rogue One, as an extra treat. So all in all this was a nice chill way to end what was an exciting fannish 2019 for me and start off 2020 on a good foot as well. Much love to the mods and to all the other folks who participated. Fandom is great, you know?

I had such a nice experience with justmarriedexchange! I made a fic and a podfic and received a fic and a podfic! The timing worked out great for me, my assigned recipient's requests were fun to work with, and I've gotten some really sweet comments.

At the end of summerpornathon challenge two (Secrets & Lies!) I decided to podfic a couple of my favorite entries (yeah, I like the one I wrote!). They are my first podfics since February! :D And it happened that I was finishing them up around the time teprometo posted the week 5 bonus challenge, which is fanworks that pass the Bechdel Test. (There are many delightful fanworks over there, and also some heated discussions and a wee bit of trolling.) These first two podlets fit, and the third doesn't but I really like it so I posted all three of them over there.

And here they are on my journal! Um, putting them behind a cut because the display is fucked up on Dreamwidth and I can't with coding anymore tonight. For once I recommend viewing this post on LJ (though sadly I lack any lesbian icons there)

So far I like the entry I've started for this week's main challenge and I'm excited to see what other people come up with. Personally I think teprometo's prompt of "Snatch" is a brilliant way to encourage people to try out making ladyporn without requiring it, and I'm proud of her for how she's been handling everything.

I do hope some people will feel inspired to try something new this week and have fun with it. Others will decide they'd rather write about capers than vaginas and that's okay too. Femslash has always been part of my Merlin writing experience (not so much in my previous fandoms) so this week's prompt isn't a stretch for me, but I'm grateful for other ones that have been, at summerpornathon and at kink_bingo and camelot_fleet, and elsewhere.
