Lost?

Did anybody else watch last night's Lost? I decided to give it a try. I was thinking that in some ways it felt like it was made for me. As if the writers and producers thought, What can we do to keep Sophinisba watching, seeing as how she was already pretty bored with season three and now she can't look forward to seeing Charlie anymore? They made it center on Hurley, still one of my favorite characters! Rose and Bernard both had lines, and Sawyer (my least favorite character) had very few of them! Kate and Jack were less annoying than usual and Jack did not have a beard. Yay!

Not only was there lots of Hurley, but there was lots of Hurley being sad about Charlie. ♥ And! Hurley in a mental hospital, one of my favorite fictional settings! Hurley fearing that he's going crazy, one of my favorite fictional scenarios! And then, and then! OMG Charlie! It almost felt like they were teasing me, really. Ha ha ha, Sophie, you can't stop watching! You never know when we're going to bring Charlie back!

And yet, for all that, I still felt pretty meh about the episode in general. I was really disappointed that Naomi died, and not just because this means we'll never get the flashback I wanted where she goes to a Driveshaft concert in Manchester. (I did try to write that as a fic and failed miserably.) I thought her character was so intriguing when they brought her in, and then they kill her off before they she gets to develop at all. And it just seems like that's the way the whole show works. Here they are introducing a bunch of new mysteries and a couple new characters for the new season, and I'm stuck thinking, why should I care about new mysteries when you've never bothered to explain anything that came before?

Also, I am so very bored with Jack and his masculinity already. I am bored with his daddy issues, his rivalry with Ben, his rivalry with Sawyer, and so on. (I could go for some rivalry with Sayid because Sayid is hot, but I would rather just have Sayid take over omg and be done with the rivalries already!) Because of this I had trouble paying attention to the parts of this episode that were not about Hurley.

But I will probably keep watching because I'm stubborn, or bad at breaking bad habits, or something.

I didn't watch it -- and I went ahead and read your spoilers because I'm not sure when or if I will get a chance to watch it. M was being a tv hog yesterday and so if I watch it, I guess it will be online! Anyway, I forgot even who Naomi was...

oh okay! That's right -- I remember her. Geesh, she had a short shelf-life!

I like Hurley and, unlike you, Sawyer is my favorite character, after Charlie. He's interesting and there's room there for real redemption.

I find Ben, Juliet, Jack and Kate annoying too. I don't think I'll be watching Lost anymore. When they focused on the Others and on the Jack/Kate/Sawyer story and practically ignored all the others for so long, I got bored and only watched it for the glimpses of Charlie they gave us. Now that he's dead, I don't expect to see him again, so that's it for me.

I watched it - I wasn't sure I was going to but decided to check it out. I was glad to see some focus on Hurley and some appearances by Charlie. I will probably check it out next week again and see how it goes - if they go back to focusing on Jack/Kate/Sawyer they'll probably lose me. But if they focus on the other characters it might keep my interest. TIme will tell!!
