writing and remixthedrabble
Today I did a little bit of writing on my second
lgbtfest fic and brought it over 1000 words (the fest minimum) so that is a nice milestone as always but it's nowhere close to being done and I don't know whether I can finish by my assigned date, which is this Thursday. I feel pretty out of my depth with the fandom (Merlin) and the subject matter so I'm resisting working on it. I mean, I try to tell myself that historical accuracy doesn't need to matter because it clearly doesn't matter to the show's writers, but I still feel paralyzed by how little I know about the Middle Ages and, you know, it would be one thing to write a silly love story but if I'm dealing with a serious issue then isn't it pretty irresponsible to make up stuff about Medieval England just to make my story work. Or maybe these are all just excuses because I don't really want to write. :/ If this were an exchange I'd be really upset but it's not and the mods seem to be pretty laid back about people who miss their deadline posting on an amnesty day at the end of the fest, or else not posting at all. I guess we'll see.
It's been exciting seeing the sign-ups for
remixthedrabble come in over the last few days, with some familiar names and lots of new ones. At this point there are a few who don't have any matches, but we've always worked something out in the past so I'm hopeful about this round too. I'm a little sad that so far no one has signed up with a remixable store of Merlin fics because that's what I'd most like to write, and I'm a bit embarrassed with the Merlin fics I have written and the idea of assigning some poor person to remix them, but, yeah, we'll work something out.
Anyway, it all makes me feel like writing drabbles (even though I shouldn't because I should be writing my gay Merlin fic and working on school stuff), so I would love drabble prompts, especially the three-word kind (one or two of the words can be character names) for, um, anything but Casey/Zeke (sorry), but especially Merlin, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and/or Torchwood.
