Yuletide fics are up! I'm really happy about the gifts I received! Some awesome mystery person got my request for Monty Python's Life of Brian and wrote Four Completely Unconnected Scenes In 1st c. Judea. It is just the kind of wackiness I was hoping for, with environmentalists protesting against the Romans, Judith and Loretta discovering feminism, and a special guest appearance by Jesus. Yay!

For the first time I also got extra Yuletide treats! Two people decided to write me fics about Harold and Kumar's epically awkward love!

Rejoicing As And Integer is a lovely quiet fic about Kumar feeling out his feelings about Harold and what that means about who he is (my identity kink hooray!).

Harold and Kumar and Maria and Vanessa Go to Bed. Together. Kumar's attempt to manipulate their girlfriends results in boyslash and orgy!! Thank you so much, writers! I feel really lucky.

There's another Harold/Kumar fic that is also great: It's The Thought That Counts, also with awkward boykissing and great character voices.

Here are a few other favorites from what I've read so far.

Leverage: Four Times Hardison Told His Nana He Was Sorry, And One Time He Said He Was (But Totally Wasn't) - Hardison as a young fan of scifi TV. This is totally adorable.

Anthropomorfic: Packet Switching and The Magical Healing Power of Threesomes - Two out of several very funny fics about LJ, Dreamwidth, and fandom.

Saving Face: Yum Cha - Adorable Chinese-American lesbians working on their relationship after the movie's happy ending!

Northern Exposure: Reaping the Whirlwind - Joel/Marilyn is an unexpected pairing but in this fic it feels just right.

Rapunzel (Fairy Tale) Out Flew the Web and Floated Wide - Last year I wrote a Yuletide story about Rapunzel's mother. I love this angsty fic about her prince when he's on his own in the wilderness blind and searching for her.

Sisters of Bilhah is one of five fics written for the Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. This is a future dystopian novel that made a big impression on me as a preteen and I've often thought it would be great to see fic for it, but I haven't requested or written it because it's been so long since I read the book. This fic worked especially well for me in that sense of not remembering the canon too well and I think it would also work for people who haven't read the book because it's not about Atwood's characters. It's about a British OFC who works with refugee women from the former US. This fic is longish (7500w, so could also be good if you're having trouble loading pages and want to stick on one fic for a while) and gives you a lot to think about - I think it's my favorite of the serious ones I've read so far.

There are over 2700 stories of 1000 words or more in the regular collection, and a bunch of shorter Yuletide Madness fics will be released soon. The site's a little slow because of all the people using it, but it's been fine for me to read one thing while another is loading.
