Not the fic year in review meme
Yay, people are doing the meme where the talk about all the fic they've written this year. I love that one and I'm enjoying reading people's thoughts about their own writing. I will do it too but I want to wait until after I can claim my anonymous fest fics. I don't know when the
camelotsolstice mods are planning on doing the reveal, but I think it'll probably be mid-January at the earliest. I suppose I could wait and put that one in next year's meme, but damn, I wrote the bulk of it in September, and I definitely think of it as one of this year's fics. I think this is my first time participating in a fest like that, where you submit and then wait for two months while everything gets posted. In theory I'm in favor of staggered posting because it gives people more time to read without feeling overwhelmed, but in practice I've found the wait pretty nerve-wracking.
In other anonymous news, I ended up writing two Yuletide Treats in addition to my assigned story. I got nice comments from all three recipients right away on the first day so that was a really good feeling. Since then I've had a couple comments on the Treats but no more on the main story. And I'm not, you know, feeling especially angsty about that. One signs up for Yuletide in order to write in a small fandom, and the smaller the fandom the less likely one is to get a lot of readers. The AO3 has hit counters and as far as I can tell people just aren't clicking on this one because they don't know the source; it's not that they're clicking on it, deciding it's really horrible and/or offensive, and then choosing not to comment. So I guess I did something in the True Spirit of Yuletide? On the other hand, it's always nice to be read and to hear from people. I had that last year because I wrote for a movie that lots of people have seen, and I'm missing it a little this year. So it's probably a good thing I won't be online this next week so I won't be thinking about it. :)
(And of course it'll be an awesome week because I'll be seeing my friends!)
