camelotsolstice! There were a ton of fics posted just in the last few days, including one that's 95,000 words long. Until this week I'd kinda sorta been keeping up with the gen and femslash and dipping my toes in the het and Arthur/Merlin, but at this point I'm pretty overwhelmed. Still, I hope the reveal happens tomorrow as planned rather than next week, as I guess they're now considering. I've had a great time with writing and reading but I...well, I think I need to not sign up for any more fests where posting is spread out for more than a couple weeks after the deadline. The wait's been really nerve-wracking for me.
Anyway, since there's been so much lately, anyone have any recs? Here are two recently posted Arthur/Merlin fics that stuck out for me:
-Hidden in Plain Sight, 14740 words, NC-17 - I thought this was a really original take on the post-reveal fic. There was a nice balance between the characters (including Morgana learning magic yay) and they all felt very real to me.
-Loyalty in Seven Scenes, 8029 words, R - More of a traditional magic reveal fic but the Arthur characterization in this was so strong, and I loved the plot and found it really engrossing. (Also I don't think I'll ever get sick of reading about Merlin in chains in the dungeon omg.) This had a little bit of sex in it but most of it read to me more like a gen fic about how devoted Arthur and Merlin are to each other. ♥ ♥
There is a guessing poll at the comm, but I'd love it if people guessed what I wrote here. I ended up doing two fics, one for my assignment and one as a pinch hit. One is for an f-lister and one is for someone I've never interacted with before. One is gen and one has a pairing. I'm not offering ficlets (I'm always giving those away, so I don't think it would make sense), but if you guess I will be happy and impressed!

I, uh, had pretty much decided what I wanted to do before the poll went up earlier today, but I'm still really interested in the results. I'd like to know what you think even if you don't read my fic or even if you're not in the fandom. It could be just your way of saying, "I think there should be more genfic about girls!" or, "Sophie, I think you'd feel better about yourself if you finished the fic you started for last year's lgbtfest."

(Also I just read a great fic at Solstice that had a really similar plot to my gay Merlin one only it was about Arthur having trouble admitting he was gay and it was way better written than mine would have been.)
