Lost!
I had a mini Lost Marathon on Saturday and caught up with the last three episodes. I've really been loving it lately! And I say that as someone who complained a lot at the start of this season and, indeed, has been complaining pretty much since the start of season two that it's not as good as in the Old Days. I have enjoyed using this icon partly because Sayid is hot but also because he looks unimpressed, which is how I've often felt.
I mean, it's kind of hilarious that I've kept watching for this long, considering. I liked season 2 okay, hated season 3 (at least the part that was all about Jack/Kate/Sawyer having sex in cages on that other island - was that just the first half?) and don't really remember anything that's happened since then. Really, I have very little idea of what's happened so far this season. Earlier this year I was complaining that I had trouble keeping up with Lost because when I'm ready to watch TV at night I'm too tired to concentrate on these plots and characters I don't care about. I don't know or care what's going on on the island AT ALL anymore. Jacob? Whidmore? Potentials? A lighthouse? Whatever!
HOWEVER, I'm eating up the off-island scenes this season with a spoon. It's like, ever since the end of the first season when they started killing off characters I liked and focusing more and more on Jack/Kate/Sawyer I've thought, wouldn't it be nice if there could just be a happy AU where we could ignore recent canon events and just watch our favorite characters being awesome? And now that's what we're doing! The wacky high school AU where Ben and Locke are teachers and Alex is a student! The crime AU where Sayid and Jin beat up mafia thugs (or something?)! The detective AU where Sawyer and Miles are smoking hot police detectives! The something-or-other AU where Kate and Claire help each other out!
ALSO, LOTS OF DESMOND BEING HOT! I mean, I always love Desmond, but Desmond clean shaven and healthy and confident, that's a whole other level (even if the way he was treating Claire in that last episode was pretty skeevy).
This season is bringing back so many favorite old ships that I had considered lost! Desmond/Penny! Desmond/Charlie! <3 <3 <3 Hugo/Libby omg!!! I had missed Libby really a lot! I've been disappointed with the Sayid/Nadia because she's kind of boring in this AU and I don't like infidelity stories but whatever! Did I mention Sawyer and Miles are partners with an uneasy relationship and they do hot undercover police detective type things with guns??
What does any of it mean? What does it have to do with whatever boring story's going on back on the island? It doesn't make any sense, does not line up with the reality we started out with! Desmond was not originally on that flight with them! I don't know, but it's awesome!
And you know what else is awesome, even if it did take place on the island? RICARDO OMG. RICARDO AND HIS WIFE AND ALSO HURLEY, SPEAKING SPANISH THE WHOLE DAMN EPISODE. I LOVED THAT SO MUCH.
In conclusion, yay crazy AUs!

I loved the episode with Richard Alpert too. All the Spanish, and everybody who they cast really obviously was fluent and knew what they were saying and was able to act as well in English as they could in Spanish. It was so cool that Hurley was included in that too. It bugs me so much on TV when they're like "oh yeah this person totes is fluent in Spanish" and then the actor is clearly not when they have to speak it. Or like on Heroes where Maya and Alejandro always. Talked. Really. Slowly. To. Give. You. Plenty. Of. Time. To. Read. The. Subtitles.

Richard was so fabulous! And it was not even like, Let's show off his Spanish skilz or anything, like you said, they were acting for real and it was real drama and I cared about him more than I ever had.
LOL Heroes. They did try, but besides the slo-mo those Maya and Alejandro scenes had some seriously messed up writing and also geography. D:

Do you still watch House? Libby's in it now. Not as a regular but she was in it in the last two episodes. She was so pretty!
