Merlin Holidays

So idk this is maybe not wise but I can't help it, I really want to sign up for merlin_holidays this year!


Sign-ups for merlin_holidays begin Sept 24 at 10 am Eastern

This is a mostly-Arthur/Merlin-but-other-pairings-are-okay-too fest in its third year and it is for fic, art, and vids. (I also plan to do the informal Twitter podfic exchange but have decided not to sign up for Yuletide and Festivids. I can do this. I am not out of control.) The comm is on LJ with fic and art posted on the AO3, and you can follow merlin_holidays_feed if you prefer to read on Dreamwidth.

Unfortunately I probably won't be able to be on LJ for about 9 hours after signups open tomorrow. Would anybody be free to do a proxy signup for me? I'd send you an email with my info and you could just drop it in an LJ comment tomorrow. (I have it all filled out except for the actual prompts.) ETA: Thanks, I am set! /ETA

I am soooo very tempted, but feel the timing isn't right. I was told that I could pinch hit, so if pinch hitters are needed, I will do that:)

That sounds like a good idea. Pinch hitting tends not to be good for me because of the pressure, but I'm hoping I can make some kind of extra treat either for Yuletide or Festivids or both.

The good thing about pinch hitting is that I will be able to decide later if I can manage it or not. If it's a bad time for me, I just won't sign up:D

I've banned myself from exchanges. It seems i can write for prompts but not for people. Especially not for people i don't know. I angst over what they want and fall into decision paralysis. But i can do the sign up for you! Drop me an email. Xox

I have had all kinds of good and bad experiences in fests, it is so hard to know whether a prompt will inspire me or fill me with dread or both. By far my longest fic in this fandom was written for the first Camelot Solstice and it's also part of how I became friends with my dear themadlurker, but I also had huge issues with how that fest was run.

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit clingy toward Merlin fandom at the moment so this seems like the right thing to do ha ha. Will email you later with my signup. <3 <3

I am tempted by this fest every year, but have never signed up. Maybe this year? I need to get over my anxiety (or whatever it is) that my recipient will expect a long fic, because it's highly likely I won't be able to write one.

I think it is a good idea for you to sign up! Holiday fests can be super fun :D

Yeah, I have followed it and read some of the fics the last two years but it didn't feel like a good time for me and exchanges. I don't know why right now it does? You know I signed up for merlinfemfest two years ago and defaulted but in the end it was even worse for people who did create something for that and didn't get it posted. At least it is reassuring to know that this fest has been going for a while and gone so smoothly each time. Plus also I am feeling some warm gooey feelings toward the fandom, so i am going to go for it and I hope you will consider it too. <3 <3
