So many new fics omg!!

Dude, there are more than a thousand fics at this year's yuletide, and all the ones I've read are really frickin' good. All of them just so right for the characters and the universes they're writing in. Here are a few more recs, but seriously, just go browse! Here's the index sorted by fandom.

The WØRD, Stephen Colbert ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! ETA (Jan. 2nd): It is by Agnes Joseph, a.k.a. in_vulnerable, who is also a Frodo fan!

Dostoevsky Was an Epileptic, Chris/Joel from Northern Exposure with really great characterizations. It reminded me how much I loved that show and especially Chris's character when it was on. ETA (Jan. 2nd): It is by cgb, or mandysbitch. Here is her website with fic in several TV fandoms.

the hours between dawn and nothing, MASH gen fic about BJ's memories of Korea and his difficulty going back to life with his wife and daughter after the war. As with the Northern Exposure fic, it reminded me how much I love BJ and everyone else on that show, and how much BJ and Hawkeye care for each other. ETA (Jan. 2nd): It is by furies. Live a Little (The Two Things That Kill You Every Time), from the movie Brick, which, um, possibly none of you have seen... but omg, if you have you need to read this one. The language is just amazing! ETA (Jan. 2nd): It is by starrysummer, who has written a lot of darkfic and rare pairings in HP fandom. Here is the list of fics on her lj.

Rough Diamond, the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, following baranduin's rec. A wonderful, honest and funny narrative voice and really interesting improvements changes to the story, especially the character of Belle. Also, a slashababy rec!
I'll Be Home for Christmas, If Only In My Dreams, a fic set in the present day about Elijah going to visit Viggo at his ranch. These versions of Elijah and Viggo felt just right to me (and reminded me a little of another favorite of mine in this pairing, anatsuno's Siva, written for Slasha 2004) and it has one of the most beautifully written sex scenes that I've read in a long time. ETA: It is our own princessofg, whose hobbitfic is archived at West of the Moon! Hurrah!

Wow. The Northern Exposure one was amazing. I could *see* Chris and Joel -- the writer really knew those characters, and Marilyn and Ed too. It took me right back... I loved that show.

I know!! I really loved the parts about Chris alone, working on his art, choosing songs for the radio... All those thoughts just seemed to fit him perfectly, and the other characters were so well done too. I think reading it made a lot of us nostalgic for the show.
