A short fic and many podfics

I posted a wee fic last week, my first once since Voiceteam Mystery Box around New Year's:
-What my friends call me, MCU/Spider-Man, warm and fuzzy MJ & Peter & Ned with MJ/Peter and gender stuff, 696 words, general audiences.

I barely even thought about writing fic these last six months, just picked up this one I'd started last year, finished it in May, and finally got up the nerve to post it last week. And a few days before that I started a new fic and wrote more than 3000 words for it in one day, something that hadn't happened in years and years. Then I got sort of stalled on it, have done some work since but nothing like that first day.

Then this week I came across the MCU Kink Bingo challenge on Tumblr and was amazed to find that I was just in time for annual signups! They opened on the first and will run through the 21st, and then people will get their cards on August 1st and have a bunch of months to make things. The rules list fic and a bunch of other fanworks that aren't podfics, but then I asked the mods if we could do podfics and they said yes. So that's very good news but I also hope I'll manage to write some things.

At first I thought this challenge would be similar to [community profile] kink_bingo from back in the day, but the more I learn about it the more different they appear, and I'm trying to let go of that and go with the flow. There's a Discord server for the challenge and I've been hanging out there some the last few days. I haven't interacted with any of the people before and I'm fairly shy about doing so now. But I really like that it's an all-MCU fest and hope to meet some cool people through it. Most of the other MCU challenges I've seen are all about one character or pairing and that is not my jam.

And I'm still making podfic! Yesterday I made this to celebrate Steve Rogers's birthday:
-steady to the shore, MCU/Captain America, Bucky/Steve/Sam, 25 minutes, explicit

I also made the following podfics for Voiceteam in May (and trailing into June), all less than twenty minutes:
-feel something when I see you, MCU/Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky/Sam, explicit
-Nonsense, MCU/Captain America, Bucky/Sam with Bucky/bad guys noncon flashbacks, explicit
-Who Taught You How to Fall, Saving Face, Wil/Vivian, explicit (an old fic of mine!)
-She, Brokeback Mountain, Alma Jr./OFC, mature (an old poem of mine!)
-The Roommate (A Gentlemen's Arrangement Remix), Merlin, Merlin/Elyan, mature, featuring many Voiceteam participants
-Wherever You'll Be Someone, MCU/Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky/Sam, general audiences
-Rogue Two: A Star Wars Story, Rogue One, Jyn-centric, general audiences
-a glitch on the television screen, MCU/WandaVision, Wanda/Vision, teen, edited by my teammate
-Another Country, MCU/Avengers, Steve/Tony, teen, with cover art by a teammate
-yes your wings are beautiful. yes they shimmer. god., MCU/Iron Man, Tony/Rhodey, general audiences
-Capes, Star Wars sequels, Finn/Poe, teen, with three other Voiceteam participants

For this new round of Voiceteam everyone was put on new teams and we had different options for levels of participation. I was on a team of people who wanted to get some points but weren't trying to win, and that made things less stressful than the previous two times but also less fun, and I made a lot less stuff. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also in this round there were some scheduled discussions about anti-racism in fandom and one could get extra points for words that center characters of color. I set a goal for myself that at least half of the fics I chose to podfic would do this, and I think I ended up with six out of ten, though depending on how you interpret "center" and "chose" you might say five out of ten, or five or six out of eleven. I appreciated the language of centering. I'm used to thinking in terms of "featuring" different kinds of characters, but I've been noticing more and more lately how common it is for a Black and/or female character to be marginal even in works where they're part of the main pairing.

I also participated in a few other projects organized by other Voiceteam folks:
-for goodness' bake!, The Good Place ensemble, general audiences
-Furry Artists vs. Doctors, a dramatic reading of the (I guess classic?) Furry Artists vs. Doctors Tumblr post
-Until we rise with open eyes, Patrick O'Brian - Aubrey-Maturin Series, Aubrey and Maturin, general audiences
-A Seed of Song: Fives Hymns The Muses Sing of Hades and Persephone, Greek mythology/Vienna Teng's Aims, Hades/Persephone, teen

Oh hey I used all my journal's genre tags on this post: boyslash, femslash, gen, het, multi, other, and poetry!
