In the Lost fic I posted last night, Charlie listens to the George Harrison song "Within You Without You" over and over again. This is of course because I've been listening to that song over and over again the last couple days. I put on this YouTube video and then open up other windows because I'm not much interested in watching the cheesy animation.

I wrote a couple snippets of crackfic in comments to the meme yesterday: Sam says goodbye to Frodo and Merry and Pippin meet Harry Potter. If anyone would like to suggest where that one should go next or even join in with some tigging (you be Harry, I'll be Merry, or whatever) I'd really appreciate the help. Will try to respond to some more of the prompts soon.

I love this song, although I think "Love You To" is my personal favorite of George's Indian pieces. Sorry, I have no comments about your Lost fic-- I've never watched the show! :o Dom plays Charlie, right? Maybe I should watch it just so I can appreciate the George song being in there. :) Cheers!

I'd actually never heard this song before (omg do I get kicked out of the fandom I just joined now?) -- I came across the lyrics while working on the Charlie fic last week and then went and found the video last night while I was finishing it up (and waiting for more chapters of your fic) and now I can't stop. YouTube is crazy addictive, isn't it? (Like watching Lost week after week knowing there will NEVER be a satisfactory explanation for what's going on.)

I'm sorry, Sophi, but it is true: the Beatles' "true fans" will be coming to your door any minute now. They will tear off your "I love George" button and throw you out the door! They have standards to maintain!!!

I think it is wonderful that you are discovering some of George's songs. I actually missed most of the Beatles songs during their heyday. After watching the Anthology, I started buying some of their music. I found that I really enjoyed George's contributions tremendously. I went crazy and bought a lot of his solo albums as well. So far I like his first and last albums the best, All Things Must Pass and Brainwashed, but I'm still working through the things in the middle. :)

YouTube is a wonderful device. If I look up an artist and the title of a song, more often than not I can find someone who has either found a video by that artist and posted it, or posted some other video that uses that song. In either case, I get to hear and appreciate the song. As a result, I have bought more music this year than I have since I was a teenager! I'm having a ball.

Damn it! This is just like when I first came to LotR fandom and at first I was afraid to tell anyone I'd seen the movies before I read the books. I am just, I don't know, pretty good at getting obsessed with things but not in the proper timeframe. It's a good thing these two fandoms are long-lasting ones, 'cause I always need extra time to catch up. :D

I'm pretty glad about long-lasting fandoms myself. After all, Jane Austen is tremendously popular, and we're only 200 years behind the curve on her. ;) I don't understand snobbery about being in a fandom before someone else is. After all, it's a shared interest that you all enjoy. It's more people to talk about your mania, without driving crazy all those friends and family who are not interested. :D

The thing is, the fear turned out to be completely unfounded. Sure, there are book snobs around, but we ignore each other and have a good time. And I'm snobbish in my own ways (mostly about commas and apostrophes LOL) so I really can't complain.

Have I mentioned that it's fun when you're around on LJ?

Yes! I decided not to repost it but it was a little silly not to even link to it. I wrote some more for the meme last night! There is Pippin in this one! I will maybe do another links post once I have written something for everyone who commented. I see that you are also doing the meme and I should try to think of some prompts for you.
