Some [community profile] yuletide recs

Pan's Labyrinth fans! There are two fics in the Yuletide archive. This is another of the fandoms I requested so it's almost like they were written for me. I missed the summary for Dream's Labyrinth so I read the whole thing and left a comment without realizing it was a crossover with The Sandman. *g* Very cool story though, dark and creepy adventures for Ofelia's little brother. Given and Won is a great fairy tale style story that talks about Princess Moanna from the Faun's POV.

There are quite a few fics based on the Hebrew Bible and all the ones I've read have been very good, but my favorites so far have been Tales Told in Egypt, in which Joseph tells his fellow prisoners stories from his family history, and Sweet, Salt, and Bitter, a surprising piece of Rachel/Leah femslash.

Talking, All We Ever Do is RPF about Oscar Wilde, Robbie Ross and assorted friends and lovers, mostly late in their lives. It's sad and lovely and obviously done with great knowledge of and love for the characters.

The Thorny Edge of Evening, Dead Poets Society, very subtle, beautifully written Neil/Todd.

Rumpus, Hubbub, Hullaballoo, Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes. I don't remember the book all that well, but I was really blown away by the style of this fic, which follows Jim's story as they grow up and Will goes to Europe in WWII.

Telling Tales, Smoke Signals, Victor's POV, missing Thomas and finding him again. This is another source that I don't know well at all but I find the characters and the style so likeable that it was a real pleasure to read.

Twice Upon A Time, Pushing Daisies. This one's getting recced all over the place and I'm just adding another voice to that. The consequences for the narrator who intervenes in Ned and Chuck's story. As much as I love the show, I found this fic to be even more clever and delightful.
