Buzz and TV
Are you guys using Buzz? Should I stay away from it because of privacy issues, or because it's a time suck, or what is going on? Should we be following each other? Where does the content go? Is it like Twitter? I am too lazy to figure this out. Please explain!!

slightlytookish gave me Merlin, Lost, and Doctor Who. My answers have some spoilers, especially for Lost, although I haven't seen this week's episode yet and would rather you not talk about it in comments. :)
MERLIN
01. The first character I fell in love with: Merlin in the first episode. Naw.
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Arthur – I couldn't stand him in the first episode!
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: That said, I don't love Arthur nearly as much as most people in the fandom do.
04. The character I love that everyone else hates: None that I can think of. Apparently there's Gwen hate in some parts of the fandom but I mostly hang out with people who love everybody (except for Alvarr, and I didn't like him either).
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Gaius. His friendship with Merlin was my favorite ship when I first watched the series, and I still think he has his moments but he's given Merlin a lot of bad advice lately and I would like to see Merlin move beyond listening to him.
06. The character I would shag anytime: Merlin please.
07. The character I want to be like: Probably Gwen for keeping her head in a crisis and for being kind to her friends.
08. The character I'd slap: So many! Maybe start with Uther though.
09. A pairing that I love: Arthur/Merlin, but there's so much of it that I don't seek it out the way I do Gwen/Merlin and Merlin/Uther.
10. A pairing that I hate: Hate is a very strong word (as my parents used to say), but Arthur/Morgana doesn't appeal to me much.
11. Favorite character: Still Merlin.
12. My five favorite characters: After Merlin and Gwen I have trouble picking just three more or putting them in order. I mean Arthur and Morgana are kind of obvious, and I love Hunith a lot, but I also love Uther but in a different kind of way.
13. My five least favorite characters: Merlin doesn't have any characters that I'm sick of/bored by. Most of the villains of the week were dumb, but hey, they're villains of the week! So, Tauren, Alvarr, Valiant…I actually sort of liked some of the other villains, come to think of it. (Myror!)
14. Which character I am most like: Gwen, in the standing back and observing and sometimes judging but holding her tongue sense.
15. My deep, dark fandom secret: I think there's a new trend for consensual Merlin/Uther and that's, you know, lovely and I'm all for it, but I still have a stronger desire for Merlin/Uther noncon and dubcon and want there to be more of it, and really well done so there would be fans who specialize in really awesome Merlin/Uther porn the way people used to do with Snape/Harry and Lucius/Harry and Harry/random Death Eaters and so on. I just really kink on that stuff and I would like people to put care into writing it rather than post unbetaed fic saying, "OMG I can't believe I wrote this pairing I'm so going to hell" and so on.
LOST
01. The first character I fell in love with: Charlie! Dom was the reason I first started watching the show and I wanted to hug him and love him and make his angst and addiction go away.
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Maybe Sun? To be honest I don't actually love anyone on the show anymore. I'm watching it because I've been watching it for so long and because it will be over soon, but I don't feel emotionally connected to any of the characters the way I did in the first two seasons.
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Ben omg. Fandom acts like he's the most fascinating thing ever to happen on TV and he bores me…as much as Jack and Sawyer but me. (If we'd done this meme during the first season I would have answered Sawyer to this question. I hated him for the first three seasons but he's sort of grown on me recently.)

The character I love that everyone else hates: None, since I don't really love anyone, but three characters that I think could have been awesome but never got/haven't gotten a chance to develop are Ana-Lucía, Libby, and Miles. I think fandom hated Ana-Lucía, liked Libby okay, and has mostly ignored Miles.

The character I used to love but don't any longer: I still like Sayid but I think his character's really been languishing for years because the writers (and fans and other characters) don't care about him. This was symbolized for me in the goddamn season five finale in which Jack and Sawyer were willing to leave him bleeding to death so they could have a fistfight about their stupid love quadrilateral or whatever. Even Jack's attempted mouth-to-mouth in the season 6 premiere seemed very half-hearted to me and I couldn't even get worked up about it either. :(
06. The character I would shag anytime: Desmond. (Accent!)
07. The character I want to be like: Either Rose, for not letting this shit get to her, or Hurley for continuing to work at helping his friends despite everything.

I didn't care for her at all in "The Runaway Bride" but turned out to be an awesome companion and I love her dynamic with the Doctor. (I also got to like Rose a lot better during the fourth season than I did when she was a regular companion.)
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Maybe the Master? (Sorry,aralias!)
04. The character I love that everyone else hates: Who do people hate in this fandom? I don't know. Does Gwen from Torchwood count?
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Captain Jack Harkness lost me when he tortured a prisoner in the first season of Torchwood. The outcry about his characterization being ruined by CoE didn't make any sense to me because I figure we knew he was an asshole a long time ago.

07. The character I want to be like: Sarah Jane with the competence and the patience.
08. The character I'd slap: Ten for the way he treated Martha.
09. A pairing that I love: I wouldn't say I love Doctor/Rose, but I think 10.5/Rose has potential. I'm not really into shipping in this fandom.

In other news, I've recently watched the first three episodes of Psych. Shawn is great! The rest of it I like okay, though not as much as Leverage, which I sort of think of as the same kind of thing – fun to watch without making you think too much, cheesy but smart in its own way, plots that get resolved in an hour, a small fandom but big enough to raise some eyebrows when it was included at last year's Yuletide, etc.
I had heard before I started watching that more Shawn/Lassiter gets written than Shawn/Gus, and while I agree with people who say that's completely ridiculous (and probably evidence of racism) considering how married Shawn and Gus are, I've also been impressed at how slashy Shawn and Lassiter have been despite not interacting all that much. I mean, I don't find Lassiter attractive and I don't usually like enemy pairings anyway, but damn.
I loved this week's episode of House!

Re: Psych pairings, yeah, Shawn/Lassiter is a way slashy antagonistic dynamic that I'd probably be into if I weren't so into Gus/Shawn (and secretly into Juliet/Lassiter). Recently I'm really digging the idea of Juliet/Gus, actually, and their shared geeking out over comic books, because n'awwww. ♥ (Plus, a ship I don't have to feel guilty about because they aren't co-dependent and neither of them is a stand-in for a disapproving father figure, so bonus points for that.)
