Oh hey, I was just tagging the post for my new bingo at kink_bingo and I started to wonder if I could count it for the rare ship/rare characters Achievement. The rules say, "You define what is or is not a rare ship/rare character; this, like so much at Kink Bingo, is on the honour system."

Ahhh, I don't know! Will you help me decide? I feel pretty secure that Inara/Zoe from Firefly is a rare pairing and Annie from Treme is a rare character in fandom. If I were looking at the other squares I've filled so far I would also count Merlin/Will, Gwen/Lancelot, Freya/Merlin, and Freya/Morgana.

But what about Gwen/Morgana? It used to be a relatively popular pairing but it's never really been big compared to Arthur/Merlin, and there isn't much at all being written these days. Then there is Gus and Shawn, who are the main characters on Psych but don't actually get written about that much. And I just don't know much about Avatar fandom. Also, do you think the medium should matter? The Audiofic archive has one Azula/Ty Lee podfic and five Gus Shawn ones (two of them by me, all of them shorter than the one I posted yesterday). Gwen/Morgana poetry is certainly rare, but then any fannish poetry is rare, so, I don't know!

Listen you guys, it's really important that you go to the Fandom Steel Cage Match March Madness Round 2 post (with your legit active LJ account) and make good choices about voting for the awesomest characters, especially in races that are close. Buffy and Olivia are doing fine in this round but will probably need your support soon. I have conflicted feelings about Annie versus Merlin so I won't tell you what to do there.

But it's important that you VOTE FOR GUS. He is polling behind right now but you can make the difference and keep him in the running.

And above all it's VITALLY IMPORTANT that you VOTE FOR SCULLY. I was writing this a few minutes ago and she was ahead by nine votes, but now she is behind. D: D: D:

Look, you guys know I love the Eleventh Doctor a lot, but where would any of us be if it hadn't been for Scully? Scully is the bestest ever. As someone wisely said in comments to round one, a vote for Scully is a vote for all women in scifi.



Oh and also, speaking of Gus, themadlurker told me that she's now listened to all the Psych podfic in the Audiofic archive. There needs to be more, Psych fans and podficcers! I have done a couple and I honestly think they're more fun to read out loud than any other fandom I've tried. If you've been thinking about making a podfic, consider making it a Gus/Shawn podfic!

Which are the Psych episodes with Gus's sister Joy in them, please?

ETA: Is it just the one, "Christmas Joy" from season 3?

Are you guys using Buzz? Should I stay away from it because of privacy issues, or because it's a time suck, or what is going on? Should we be following each other? Where does the content go? Is it like Twitter? I am too lazy to figure this out. Please explain!!

In other news, I've recently watched the first three episodes of Psych. Shawn is great! The rest of it I like okay, though not as much as Leverage, which I sort of think of as the same kind of thing – fun to watch without making you think too much, cheesy but smart in its own way, plots that get resolved in an hour, a small fandom but big enough to raise some eyebrows when it was included at last year's Yuletide, etc.

I had heard before I started watching that more Shawn/Lassiter gets written than Shawn/Gus, and while I agree with people who say that's completely ridiculous (and probably evidence of racism) considering how married Shawn and Gus are, I've also been impressed at how slashy Shawn and Lassiter have been despite not interacting all that much. I mean, I don't find Lassiter attractive and I don't usually like enemy pairings anyway, but damn.

I loved this week's episode of House!
