Small fandom podfic collection for thingswithwings

Happy birthday thingswithwings! I know that like most of us listeners you prefer long podfics, but as a reader I prefer the ones that I can record in one sitting and without causing my computer to crash! So I did a bunch of short ones, and such_heights also did one, and I put them in a podbook! This way you get an hour and seven minutes in six different fandoms without a lot of downloading hassle.

Notes: On Tuesday such_heights and I found out that we were both planning on recording this for your birthday! I knew how to pronounce "Schenectady" but she knew how to do the Space Invaders sound effect, so we decided she should go for it and I would concentrate on these others. La Adelita by eruthros (Like Water for Chocolate), 15 minutes

Notes: This one was challenging but I'm glad I put in the extra effort of adding sound effects and music! The music at the end is the Mexican singer Carmen Cardenal.

Yay! So excited to listen to the rest of these.

And I do not know that that is the *actual* sound of old school Space Invaders, but I felt that the weird noise I made at that point in recording captured the general tone. :D

"Schenectady" is one of the great comedy place names! It was actually Boston in the first draft, true story. :D

Oh, man, I just listened to these while travelling and they were all AWESOME. I love the reading of the Pie Job and Stargaze. And your reading of La Adelita made me sniffle, srsly, the editing was so great, and the MUSIC and the SPANISH and <3<3<3.

Naw, that is awesome to hear! Like I said in the notes, The Pie Job and Stargaze were a lot of fun to do. Yours was harder - I think not even so much for the Spanish as for switching languages within the same sentence (Anything with "Villa's army" in it, seriously, try saying that out loud) but I was also really happy with the result. :)

What a great collection! I kind of wish I were familiar enough with the last couple of fandoms to appreciate those parts properly, but I think I will end up listening anyway because they sound so intriguing. :)

I would encourage you to listen to the Like Water for Chocolate one, both because I'm proud of the editing and because I don't think you need any canon knowledge to understand it (I'd seen the movie once or twice but not in a long time, and I haven't read the book.)

The Homicide one is tougher, especially because it's got...I think six different canon characters plus an OC, and takes place at a particular moment late in the series. It is a great little story though!

I just listened to Stargaze and I really enjoyed it! I love how you read Gus and you captured his exasperation at Shawn constantly trying to cop a feel in public. XD
