One of the challenges at voiceteam this week is to create a commentary on an old podfic and, as I mentioned in my last post, it's been about ten years since I started making podfic. So here is a commentary on my first two podfics!

These are pretty different fics and podfic productions but it tickles me (and did back then) that they are both mermaid femslash! I also associate both of them with my good old friends from hobbit fandom even though neither fic is about hobbits. It makes me happy to see the continuity between these first two podfics and the things I'm still making these days.

Reader's notes: toft wrote this as a ramp-up post for the latest round of kink_bingo back in June and it was awesome, and I thought right away that it would be neat to read out loud, but it took me a couple months to get around to asking the author about making a few adjustments to the text for an audio version (mainly replacing "/" with "and" or "or" but a few other little things too) and then a few more weeks to actually make it. I had a harder time getting the words out than I generally do with podfic, so the raw recording was more than twice as long as the finished product and the editing took a long time considering there's nothing very fancy in it. (This is not really surprising and certainly doesn't mean there's anything wrong with Toft's writing. In podfic I usually get tripped up a lot during the early parts where there's a lot of exposition and/or dialogue. Once the porn starts it's usually poetic and lovely and smooth sailing unless there are sex noises.)
Anyway, there are parts of this reading that I like a lot, and if you haven't read the essay I encourage you to check out either the text or audio version.
I am using this for the wildcard on my kink_bingo card, and will claim it for the new "spaces scenes and settings" kink when I post at the comm.

Hey all, thank you for your sweet birthday wishes last wee. My day off was not too awesome but I had nice days before and after and a lovely, fannishly productive weekend. I finished my first bingo for this round of kink_bingo! And I feel pretty confident that I can finish two more (top row and middle row) before the end of October. I have ideas for all the squares I need to fill except for:
-temperature play featuring a trans or genderqueer character, or
-sex toys (non-penetrating) featuring a character of color. Suggestions welcome!

fitz_y got me signed up within an hour after merlin_holidays opened yesterday! As often happens when I decide to go be social in mainstream Merlin fandom I felt very out of place at first, but I did see some more friendly names and signups later on. It looks like there are still five spots left for writers and unlimited spaces for artists and vidders with signups closing Thursdays. And it will probably turn out to be a lot of fun in the end, just like summerpornathon was even though signups freaked me out both years. :)

Today I watched the second-to-last episode of the first season of Teen Wolf and stuff happened that either
-I'd been really frustrated hadn't earlier before because come on, people, or
-I'd heard vague things about before and was glad to finally see what the fuss is about,
so that was nice. I enjoyed it.

Hello friends,

I could use some help finding stories to podfic for kink_bingo. In particular, I'm looking for something for my pervertibles square (using things for sex and kink that weren't designed for that) that feature a moresome or poly relationship. I feel like there ought to be some Avengers something! With Thor's hammer or some scientific instruments or whatever? Or Inception or Sherlock or maybe even Teen Wolf... You know, those live-action English language fandoms, I'm familiar with a lot of them, but Avengers is supposed to be all about the poly, right? ETA: I have looked through poly and threesome and other tags on the AO3 and will surely do so again as I work through this bingo, but what I'd especially appreciate from you is links to any individual stories you know of! /ETA ETA2: Found one, yay! /ETA2

I would also appreciate poly/moresome recs for historical roleplay and objectification kink!

And! A story featuring a trans or genderqueer character and either temperature play or sleepiness!

And many other things ha ha. I no longer have much hope of getting a blackout done during the main round. :( My new goal is to finish one bingo (the bottom row) during the round and still go for the blackout during amnesty. Maybe not all the achievements will work out so if you know of good stories for these kinks that don't feature moresomes or trans/genderqueer characters please let me know about those too.
